The Scorch

Bordering the Ari Badlands is a vast, ebony desert of searing sand known as the Scorch. Subject of Ozwok folklore, dissidents are exiled into its deadly wastes to succumb to its vicious sandstorms and unnatural temperatures. The crystal apparatus deep in a Yuan-Ti pyramid under Kitsch that kept its cruelty at bay was deactivated causing the Scourge of the Ozwok people. These ashy sands spread across Oren's deserts encroaching on the Lower Wylds and the area beyond the Wall. Within the first months of 6 AH, the 'Scorched Sea' consumed nearly all of central Oren. This dark storm's spread promptly stopped by summer of 6 AH, although it is likely to remain a permanent ecological feature of the continent.

Geography

The Scorch remains largely unexplored due to its unnaturally harsh sandstorms and the perplexing disease contracted by those who brave it often return with. If any encampments exist in the Scorch, no open contact has even been established with those that lay to the east.

Fauna & Flora

Due to the strange, infernal sands that fill the area, no natural flora or fauna have been witness or recorded throughout the ages. Legends spin tales of warped, desiccated remains of those exiled into its wastes prey upon the innocent that venture too far eastward. Until recently, these claims were accepted as haunting ghost stories. After the events of 6 AH, the Scorch is all but confirmed to be of abyssal origin whose sear sickness remodels creatures into demons.

Natural Resources

Ashy sand from the Scorch can erode most materials after long periods of exposure. Manufactured structures and even natural features weather into onyx dunes when the Scorch spreads inward.
