Human

Widely understood as the oldest race in Cabochon, human settlements dot nearly every continent even the Far West in Dragon country. As such, humans remain prolific and incredibly diverse. Most human villages have directly incorporated with the races around them and remain one of the most outgoing and hospitable races of Cabochon. Half-orcs, beastfolk, and tiefling prefer the presence of humans sometimes over that of their own kin.
Highly diverse in a volatile and bizarre world of fantasy, humans express very little outward animosity toward their kin of different ethnic backgrounds. Like every race, however; individual humans do share their reservations in close company about particularities of culture, manners, and history of others.

Civilization and Culture

Culture and Cultural Heritage

While notably genial to nearly everyone, humans hold those of elven blood in higher regard. Half-elves are considered remnants of the great Elven Empire that reconnected Cabochon in the olden days. In a strange sort of coincidence, humans prefer half-elves to pureblooded elves as these true elves have become isolated and conspiratorial in their decline.
Those with some amount of ‘feyblood’ or ‘greyblood’ in them usually find themselves onstage at ceremonies or paraded with figureheads of the community. In human capitals like Kailia, it is seen in vogue to wear angular jewelry that contorts the ears upward like those of elven descent.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

One inevitable question about Cabochon is why humans are so prolific yet hold so little power in the world. Those that do rise to power within their countries surround themselves with token diversity of other races and prefer to keep council with half-elf for public perception. Human imperialism has long since been dormant as newer races seem cosmically ordained to conquer for a time and then decline leaving humans to steadily march forward.
Those humans imbued with wanderlust tend to pursue adventure with diverse casts or seek easy diplomacy with the aristocracy of the Cabochon. Known for their courteous demeanor, humans are a main stay in every court of the land.
Those few human communities with little to no diversity tend to be highly feudal and fanatical. These sects however are expeditiously snuffed by more established powers in the region.
