Berne the Brigand acted as de facto leader of the Marauders in which Yeezy was a member. After Yeezy potentially killed his parents, Berne used suggestion to convince him to leave and find his fallen brother. It is not certain that this actually happened or if this was part if the suggestion spell.
Berne later joined the Unfettered after being contacted by the angel Pythas. He and his companions were tasked with hunting down the omphalos and destroying them. He stopped the corruption of the Earth Omphalos by instead destroying it to keep Tephra from its power. This resulted in the immediate rapture of the Halflings as a Halfling was sealed in the Omphalos.
Still flying under Tephra's radar, Berne was able to collect an aether shard and was willingly teleported to the Tome Plane where the Aether omphalos resides. Revealing his opinion on Providence to the SotSH, Berne nearly destroyed the aether omphalos until Gadaffi seated himself in it corrupted with Tephra's influence, thus becoming the Peluda.
Berne confronted Tephra directly after this corruption. Tephra, in anger, struck him dead forcing and ressurecting him as a revenant. Berne tackled Torque in the resulting fray but was dispatched by his celestium blade.
Berne's soul now resides in a Ring of Mind Shielding that Yeezy possesses.
