Kingdom of Eremere
A Kingdom Divided
Eremere is an island nation, ruled by kings for nigh on 500 years. Ruled by earls who answer only to their king, Eremere is split into six regions: Dregonvell is blessed with rich farmland with rolling hills; Lylelor is known for its large and gorgeous lakes; the Rocklands is infamous for its treacherous terrain and caverns filled with ores; Springmore benefits from acres of fertile soil and gold mines aplenty; Arkenstead is host to the mightiest woods and forests; Thendanor, which is ruled directly by the king, has all the infrastructure befitting a capital region of a mighty kingdom.
Structure
At the top, the king rules all regions of Eremere indirectly. Below him, six high earls rule each of the six regions. They too are inherited titles. Below them, there are numerous earls - a different number for each region depending on size - who control the localities of the earldoms. These lords and ladies are untouchable nobles.
Public Agenda
For the last 40 years, King Aldred the Good has ruled justly and fairly, seeking nothing but peace and prosperity for his subjects. He is more than aware of the threat the warrior clans that lie across the Ageing Sea, and prepares sufficiently, though he is not prepared to make the first move.
Assets
Castles have covered Eremere since the empire built them, making it a difficult location to conquer. On top of this, the island nation has no land borders, protecting it from any neighbours. 4 decades of peace have served the treasury well and Eremere's gold supplies are high. Their armies are stocked to a low extent. They could probably fend off an invasion, though they could certainly not invade anywhere themselves.
History
Originally consisting of six tribes, Eremere was united by the empire of Riddedor, who conquered much of the Continent abroad. After two centuries, Riddeodor collapsed. From the power struggle, the warrior chief of Thendanor united the six regions into one kingdom, with him as the king. This has remained the status quo for 5 centuries.
