City of Bavo'sand Settlement in Bavo'Sand | World Anvil

City of Bavo'sand

The greatest city on this world or any other. Known by many names like The City of Traders, The City of Crystal Tower, The Crossroads of the Mists.   The History of the City is well known but the time before the 7 towns and the republic is unknown, Where did the civilisation come from, where did the dwarves, elves, humans, centaurs species learn how to build, how to farm and all those important parts of civilisation. We just don't know, 2942 years of written History is well documented, since coming out of the west though whatever trials those first people forged them into the starts of civilisation.

Demographics

The most common species within the city are still the original 4, the humans, dwarves, elves and centaurs. These make up around 75% of the total population, of which around half are Humans.   The other major groups are those of the House Da'kari Tielfings, The Dragonborn and Minotaurs, all which have migrated in with large population groups or in the case of the Da'kari Tielfings are offically one of the Native Human Tribes.   Outside of these 7 major groups you find the usualy mix of Half Breeds, Intelligent Creatures including those that in many worlds are seen as barbaric and tribal like Goblins and Orcs. There are also many other rarer beings like Djinni, Devils, and Ogres, who would call the city their home.

Government

The city is ruled by the Crystal Senate, made up of 90 individuals with a split of 30 Mages, and 60 lay people from the city, mostly linked to Noble Houses or Guilds, (these people are voted on every 3 years where 1/3 of the seats are up for election, anyone without a criminal record can stand for seat within the senate, but obviously those with the backing of guild or house tend to have the most money and support behind them, so it's rare an individual independent would gain a seat.

Defences

City Wall surround the entire city, 30 foot outwall, with towers every half a mile along it, along with the massive gatehouses at the western, north and southron cardinal points.   Within the city many Noble estates also have smaller but equally impressive walls and gates.

Infrastructure

Across the distracts everything from smithing to flower growing can be found. It is an advance city in terms of infrastructure with a fully intergate sewers, water delivery and roads and street.

Districts

There are 46 Precincts within the city, split over the 4 quartants, many are unremarkable and nothing special about them, while others are famous for a critical technology or skills.   At the heart of city is the Crystal Tower and its land around them, possible the greatest magic school within the mutliverse.   The Rose Bowl Precinct the home of the Rose Garden, and the guild hall of the Black Hook Guild.   The Western Ward (Q4/P9) became the home of the Minotaur Clans who came to the city from their homeworld during the Trader Wars, as additional troops. The Ward feels and looks different to the rest of the city, with larger spaces between the houses of the Minotaurs, along with the buildings being on a different scale, (when the average height of the occupiers is 10' your buildings are going to big.   The Wayfaire (Q4/P3) the centre of travel in the city and the reason the city is as grown as large as it as and able to feed its population, its full of not just the Wayfaire itself but also warehouses and storaged facilities for goods, food and many other items.

The city is built mostly from Grey and white stones, quarry from the Cerjan Mountains to the north and transported down, and wood from the forests to south and north, which is a mixture of Oak and Pine. Mostly 2 and 3 story buildings, as you travel though the city you find some differences on architecture and designs based on the original towns and people. As while everyone now is Bavo'sand Citizen they do still remember their old historical ancestorial homes.
