Aktrout Ark

The Aktrout Ark is a large, floating river barge in Aktrout. It is the primary government building in the town, the home of the town’s oknar, and a gathering hall.
The Aktrout Ark was previously an old Keelish river barge, the Akonon Anakag, and it was a safe haven for survivors of the Tarterian War. The barge would be converted into the town's first permanent floating structure when Aktrout was rebuilt on the waters of Red Lake.

Description

The Aktrout Ark was previously a Keelish river barge called the Akonon Anakag, meaning "Red Tree Barge". After Aktrout began rebuilding, the barge was converted into the first permanent floating structure of the town.
The ship is a large wooden barge, with an upper deck and a cargo hold. The ship is held in place in the town, with docks attached to Aktrout's wooden walkways.
Above deck, the Ark is decorated with mounted bull horns, creature bones sharpened to points, and driftwood pillars. Red fabric awnings cover the upper levels, where guards patrol and overlook the surrounding docks. There are a few rooms in the ship above for the oknar.
A drawbridge-like entrance to the cargo hold is open to the docks, leading to the Ark's interior. The old cargo hold is now a gathering hall for the oknar. The interior is dark, though light filters in through the wood planks above. Banners for the Queendom of Keeleon adorn the walls. On the far side opposite the entrance is a long, raised driftwood platform where the oknar speaks to visitors.

The Fourth Age: The Age of Shadow

During the late Fourth Age, the Akonon Anakag was a river barge of the Keelish fleet, originally constructed of wood from the Red Cockspur Grove. The ship operated in the Rexun River.
During the Tarterian War, the Akonon Anakag was at Red Lake at the time the demon armies reached the Desecrated Hills. Some orcs from Aktrout were able to take shelter on the ship on the lake and survive the sacking of the town.

The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings

The survival of the Akonon Anakag was taken as a good omen. In the early Fifth Age, Aktrout began to be rebuilt fully on the waters of Red Lake. The Akonon Anakag became the first permanent structure during the rebuilding.
Eventually, the Akonon Anakag was renamed to the Aktrout Ark to signify its importance to the town.
At some point, the original anchor of the Akonon Anakag was removed and placed at the Old Anchor Inn.
