Aktrout Dragon Anchors
The Aktrout Dragon Anchors are a set of three massive stone anchors attached to wooden buoys set in Red Lake in the Desecrated Hills region of Tarteria. The anchors form the foundation of the floating town of Aktrout, holding the settlement in place nearly a mile off the shore.
Each anchor is dedicated to one of the Dragon Deities: Zenthai, The Dragon King; Barduumus, The Battlelord; and Sehakora, The Maelstrom.
During the night of 16 Adroth 5A 352, the the Varg Barges chains and Zenthai's Dragon Anchor were damaged by some type of attack under the water. This left Zenthai's Anchor entirely separated from the surface buoy. On 17 and 18 Adroth 5A 352, after the damage, Oknar Zhangon investigated the elemental energies and distubances beneath the lake that were affecting Aktrout.
Description
Each of the three anchors is a massive, ten-foot tall stone obelisk, with four sides, a rounded bottom, and pointed top. The anchors are carved with religious iconography, which has faded from the flow of the lake water. The anchors are covered with thick patches of water algae, and many years of silt have left the anchors partially buried in the lake floor. The anchors have massive orcish chains wrapped around them, leading up to Aktrout. The chains are attached to the bases of large floating wooden buoys on the lake surface, nearly a quarter mile above the anchors. The buoys are large wooden pyramids, similar in size and shape to the anchors below. The buoys are ten-feet tall and made of different colors of worn and aged wood. The iconography and decorations on each buoys are designed after the Dragon it is dedicated to. These function as shrines for the town, where small ceremonies are held and offerings can be made. Each buoy is attached to a circular wooden plaza made from a series of planks arranged around the buoy in a twenty-foot radius. The rest of the boats and buildings of the town's districts are attached to these plazas by ropes, ties, and connections.Zenthai’s Anchor
The Aktrout Dragon Anchor dedicated to Zenthai, The Dragon King, anchors the northwest third of Aktrout. The buoy deck surrounding Zenthai's Anchor is a dedicated space for public gatherings. The Zenethian Symbol is carved into the wood on each side of the buoy and stained in red and green and yellow. The area is decorated with many small lanterns, candles, and glowing orbs which warmly illuminate the deck. Small flowerbeds of white trillium are maintained here, and fireflies from the lake congregate at night around the petals and the buoy.Barduumus’s Anchor
The Aktrout Dragon Anchor dedicated to Barduumus, The Battlelord, anchors the northeast third of Aktrout. The buoy deck surrounding it is reinforced with extra floats and buoys to support the added weight of Scow training and the occasional, though rare, military ship presence in the town. Metal lanterns burning low, red coals hanging from fishing spears are tied around the area. The buoy is edged with strips of metal that has rusted over with time. On each side are pairs of orcish weapons crossed and bolted to the wood, forming the Dynamian symbol. Numerous offerings of hand-pounded metal disks and fishing tridents are left here.Sehakora’s Anchor
The Aktrout Dragon Anchor dedicated to Sehakora, The Maelstrom, anchors the southern third of Aktrout. The buoy deck surrounding is dedicated to offerings to the Dragon of the Sea, and blood sacrifices for safe waters during heavy storms are made on the buoy’s emblems. The buoy is painted a deep blue. There are carved crescent moons on each side of the pyramid. On the southern side facing the water, a channel has been cut into the plaza so the lake water and free-floating lotus blossoms comes right up to the buoy. The crescent moon on that side is stained with repeated streaks of dark blood smeared across it that dripped down into the lake water.History
The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
In the early Fifth Age, survivors of the Tarterian War from Aktrout who took refuge on Red Lake took their survival as an omen and began to rebuild the town fully on the water. The three Aktrout Dragon Anchors were created and placed on the lake bottom near the southern edge of the lake, and the town would build up around these. 5A 352During the night of 16 Adroth 5A 352, the the Varg Barges chains and Zenthai's Dragon Anchor were damaged by some type of attack under the water.
