Wet Market
The Wet Market is a floating trade market in the center of Aktrout on the Red Lake in Tarteria. It provides a needed marketplace for the citizens of Aktrout to purchase and sell goods and services.
On 16 Adroth 5A 352, Andras Ashforge and a number of dwarves from the Hands of Ore guild arrived in Aktrout from Thoriktown. They took the Varg Barges into the town and would begin to sell some of their goods in the Wet Market. On 26 Adroth 5A 352, the Lightbringers interrupted a fight between Shipwrights' Deck workerks and dwarves of the Hands of Ore guild. Andras Ashforge thanked the group and spoke with them for a time.
Description
The Wet Market is at the center of Aktrout, where the main water channels of the town meet between the districts. It is open to the lakewater, and it is bordered by the dock walkways that run throughout the city, forming a water courtyard or plaza. Above are a number of awnings and ropes tied to the nearby buildings and leading across the water. Tarps and cloths overlap these to block out incliment weather and the sun. In the water, many small floating boats and barges from individual merchants and families are moored together haphazardly, making a marketplace of small ships and barges. There are some free-floating walkway barges, but the only permanent walkways are along the outside. The boats are filled with fish, water plants, and general goods as the citizenry buy and sell what they need in this floating market. Not much is available here for adventurers, but the town's small population relies on the market for goods and services.History
