Orichalcum Idol

The Orichalcum Idol is a totem made of raw orichalcum located on the southern shore of Red Lake in the shoreside district of Aktrout. It is an important cultural and historical item from the old Kingdom of Keeleon.   Here, orcs make blood oaths to each other. This practice is important culturally to orcs, who place great value and weight on these vows. There is a long history of this practice, going back to when the idol was first placed here.

Description

At the center of the Aktrout Crossroads is a large, rectangular statue. It’s about eight feet tall and two feet wide on each side. It’s set partially into the ground, and some loose square stones have been set around the base.   The idol is made of raw orichalcum, which shows a subtle magenta-green sheen. It shows strong signs of aging and weathering.   There is a design on its surface made of thick lines and grooves, with sharp angles and curved lines. At the top of the idol, there are two protrusions, appearing almost like bull horns.   Aside from the magenta-green sheen, the strongest color is the reds and browns of bloodstains. An uncountable number of bloody handprints are layered over the bottom half of the idol, which partially obscure an inscription near the base in orcish, which reads, “Trees burn, lakes dry, mountains crumble. Keel’s people stand like orc-metal. Forever strong.”

History

The Third Age: The Age of Zenethia
The idol is said to have been placed in the Third Age by Warlord Keel, the First Orc King, as a sign of his kingdom's strength. The placement of this idol solidified the location of Aktrout on the southern edge of Red Lake.   During the Great War, it is said the three orcish Zenethian Champions, Porgorag, Sanazi, and Morazar, came to Aktrout and swore a blood oath on the Orichalcum Idol to protect Tarteria.
The Fourth Age: The Age of Shadow
During the Tarterian War, though Aktrout would be lost, the idol remained untouched.
The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
It is said that Queen Alena, daughter of the Last Orc King, came here after returning to Tarteria to swear a blood oath on the Orichalcum Idol, swearing that her bloodline would recover the lands lost to war. Though unconfirmed, conflicting rumors and stories state that Grupe, the Monster Hunter, was also present alongside Alena.   5A 352
On 26 Adroth 5A 352, the Lightbringers examined the Orichalcum Idol after arriving in Aktrout, and Demitri read the inscription.
