The Conflict

Prelude

It is unkown what exactly led to the battle, However it is generally assumed that some Exploring Saurian troops uknowingly walked into the Fortress at Blade point and the Walren Auxilia manning the station got nervous and opened fire on the Saurians.

Deployment

The troops of the Walren Empire were Arrayed mostly on patrols around the reef and bastions or within the fortresses. however some Walren troops were stationed on the nearby island. The Saurian empires men were deployed wherever they Imerged from the water.

Battlefield

The battlefield was mostly shallow water and coral reef, however there was a small island to the west of the Blade point. additionally there were two bastions and many defensive sea walls, aswell as land mines.

Conditions

The weather for that day was mostly sunny with light wind and misty rain late in the day. the air temprature was around 83 degrees and the water was around 58 degrees.

The Engagement

The battle began around midnight on the 2nd with a Walren patrol opening fire on several unkown enemies and killing them. they soon realized that it was saurians who they had killed and they began to fall back to the bastion. minor skirmishing began and lasted for around 3 hours before two companies of saurians were able to consolidate and make a coordinated push. they advanced slowly across the shallow waters in front of the Blade point, all while under heavy Walren fire from the reef and the bastion. once they had gotten to the halfway point (which was a small bit of the reef that stuck out of the water) they again paused to consolidate. when they had waited around 30 minutes they began to advance again. soon they reached the main reef and desperate hand to hand combat began but soon the Walren Auxilia were overwhelmed and the saurians pushed on. meanwhile a full Saurian company had emerged from the water right in front of the Bastion of St. Kharn and began their first of 11 failed assaults throughout the day. at the Blade point the fight was going much better for the saurians. The two Saurian companies split up, one persuing the retreating Walren and the other attempted to storm the Blade point. the saurians that were sent to persue the retreating foes made it almost all the way to the island before coming into contact with the entrenched Walren who were covering their comrades from the island and the saurians were unable to reach them. meanwhile the saurians at the Blade point attempted for the fourth and final time to storm the bastion, this time the managed to capture the top of the bastion and the inner gatehouse and decided to besige the fortress rather than lose more men. over on the other side of the field the saurians at the Bastion of St. Kharn finally took it after 11 attempts and over 120 casualties. and so the battle of Blade point was over an the saurians victorious. the next day the Walren on the island and the scattered survivors of the night surrenederd and more than a month later so did the bastion of Blade point.

Outcome

In the months after the event some of the helmet cam footage of the battle was leaked by unkown parties and soon was spreading all over The Link. images of Saurian and Walren soldiers alike trudging through the shallow surf, violent melees, and heavy combat were broadcast all over various news and link sites. this footage inspired billions to scream for war and protest in the streets. finally the Walren government declared war on the Saurian Empire, 9 months after the battle.
