This section merely describes those races significantly different than their default versions.
ElvesNireli are "high elves ," noble haughty beings that claim origin from the gods themselves. They occupy the mystical city of Eyathrion, deep in the magical island nation of Nyrellhei.
Their "lesser" cousins, born of the "natural world" are the Taurë "wood elves " of the Feywood. More down to earth than their cousins, though they still revere Eyathrion and help to protect its borders.
Their "esoteric" cousins, born of the "kunar world" are the Ithil "moon elves " of the Feywood. More secluded than their cousins, they try to remain unknown and reclusive. Protecting their hidden glades and keeping to themselves.
Finally, in the mountain caverns and the necropolises below the surface, live the subterranean "dark elves," the Morifinwë. These Elves have been (rightfully or wrongfully) vilified by their cousins for dabbling in blood magic, which allegedly corrupted their souls, driving them beneath the surface of the world.
Elves tend to stay out of human politics until the need arises for them to begrudgingly engage.
A diminutive "worker" race, the Dwarves are some of the best builders and smiths of the realm. Frequently staying in their mountain cities and stronghold, however they have started to integrate themselves into the larger world. They can often be found in the taverns and forges across the realm.
One consequence of The Fall of Shards was that suddenly some children were born (to otherwise "normal" parents) with the "mark of the devil." Some had horns, others tails, or skin in shades of reds, blues, even purples. All that is known is these creatures are vilified (though in no way necessarily evil) and have only been around for about a thousand years. They tend to seek each other out, many having been abandoned by their Human parents.
These turtle-like humanoids hail from the western most part of Sarune. Little is known about them, though they have been found throughout the entire realm since before the Fall of Shards.
The Orsimur (Orcs) are a brutish callous people. They are constantly raiding and pillaging. They are at home when blood is being spilt, constantly seeking to utilize violence to prove themselves. Orsimur are no stranger to rape, and often leave behind unwanted Half-Orsimur offspring on their victims during their conquests.
Where Humans can tend towards xenophobia and racism, it comes out most unjustly when dealing with the Tieflings and Half-Orsimur.
