A fuel that is vital for the Maritime Navy is a fuel that is vital for the Federation Armed Forces. The Maritime Navy has a much influence on the galaxy as a single space faring vessel, it is my opinion that Velour is far too expensive for what we get.Velour Oil, is a form of oil native to the planet Velour within the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets. It is vastly more efficient than regular fuel, though unlike normal fuel is only found on the one planet - for reasons quite unclear to scientists of the Federation and Galaxy. When utilized in some form by all branches of the Federation Armed Forces, the Velour Oil is primarily utilized by the Federation Maritime Navy - often considered the weakest of the branches. The Maritime Navy uses the fuel to power nearly all of their vessels, including stationary weapons platforms, with the use of neculear fuel - a far more efficent fuel, considered too expensive for the relatively small fleets and ships of the Maritime Navy. The planet of Velour has become incredibly rich thanks to the vast quantities of oil located across the planet. For the most part the extraction of the oil is the only main industry located on the planet, sparking concerns that an eventual drying up of the oil could lead to a complete financial collapse of the planet, an issue the Federation Federal Government have been attempting to resolve, with the remains of oil dwindling every day.- Competing Opinions on Velour Oil

I really like the "two opinions" start here - I would recommend putting them into 2 different quotes for clarity. I was confused also about the scope of the Navy - I couldn't figure out if it was a star ship fleet or a marine fleet on a particular planet. I think the former, but "Maritime" literally means "connected to the sea" so it was confusing.
Thanks for your thoughts, they are very helpful. There are basically two completely different fleets within the Federation military, the Maritime Navy - which is the main topic of this article. They are the marine fleet, not that dissimilar to the navies of Modern day Earth. As well as the Interstellar Navy, which is the star travelling Navy, and unlike the Maritime Navy, is immensely powerful
HA! So you used it right... which leads me to ask why I was confused - and I came to the conclusion that it's because the world setting - and the second quote - are obviously about an interstellar world. Maybe a pic of a maritime ship would he helpful.
