Planetary Impact Meteor Showers

A beautiful, though occasionally deadly natural occurance

Class IX meteor shower confirmed sir, Envien Planetary Shield granted firing orders, all meteor batteries ready to provide auxiliary support, military granted priority command.

Planetary Impact Meteor Showers are, as the name would suggest, a subvariety of meteor showers, that directly impact on a planetary or lunar surface - particularly those with a Human population. Many planets will never see a Planetary Impact Meteor Shower, though the few that do are often forced to deal with numerous showers every year. Planetary Impact Meteor Showers are rated on a 10-level scale, with a Class 10 (Class X) Shower being one of the most dangerous events that a planet can experience, often being compared to the deployment of several hundred Nuclear or Astrosten Bombs. Meteor Showers, and therefore Planetary Impact Meteor Showers, are considered by most nations in the Galaxy of Astraesto to be the matter of Meteoritics and Meteorology, and some nations - including most prominently the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets, allow approved Meteoritic and Meteorological organisations to operate military-grade planetary defence weapons.   Many planets that saw significant Planetary Impact Meteor Showers were settled far later than those without, which has caused less populated and poorer planets to be the primary recipients of the natural event. The only major planet that sees significant meteor showers is Envis - arguably the most powerful planet in the galaxy, although the planet is well protected thanks to numerous military ground-to-space batteries, known as the Envien Planetary Shield, which supplement meteorological controlled batteries across the planet.
