Races of Xorik

Although the lands of Astoria, and specifically Xorik, have many similarities to the default worlds of D&D, there are some unique differences.   The most common civilized races are Dwarves, Gnomes, and Dragonborn, with Humans being more common than the previous three. All four races trace their roots back several ages and the dragonborn and dwarves are well known for their lengthy historical records.   The uncommon civilized races are Elves and Warforged. Elves recently joined Xorik only a few thousand years ago. Warforged are less than a century old but numerous were built during the Great War.   The more rare races include half-elves, half-orcs, halflings, and the planetouched. After coming to this world recently and enduring many hardships since then, elves rarely mingle with humans. Half-orcs are rare but more common in the uncivilized places of the continent such as the Wilds or the Green Sea. Halflings are not native to Xorik but some have travelled from the western continent of Vargask. Lastly, the plane touched races is a general term for aasimar, tieflings, and genasi, or those rare individuals that can trace their bloodline back to an extraplanar entity such as genies, angels, or fiends.   Besides the more civilized races, there are a number of monstrous humanoids that live on the fringes of society such as kobolds, orcs, goblins, drow, duergar, and many others. These races usually dwell in the Underdark, the Wilds, Green Sea, Ruin Desert, or other places where civilization is too scared to enter.
