Dragonborn

The dragonborn have a unique history as they are the only race originally created in Astoria besides the warforged later built in Xorik. Many ages ago, the tyrannical goddess Tiamat seduced many dragons into enslaving the lesser races. Ashamed by his creations’ capacity for evil, the noble god Bahamut realized he created dragons to be too powerful. It was only inevitable that some would grow arrogant enough to abuse their strength. To redeem himself, Bahamut created a more humble race: the dragonborn. Around the same size as the other mortal races, dragonborn possessed most of the features of their larger cousins but without the immense power that led to cruel arrogance. The dragonborn proved instrumental in overthrowing Tiamat and her corrupted dragons during the Creation Wars. However, not to be outdone, Tiamat corrupted a number of dragonborn to mirror her evil dragons. After the tyrannical goddess was overthrown, most of the corrupted dragonborn were either killed or fled into hiding.
Although an ancient race, dragonborn never fully recovered their numbers after the Creation Wars. Therefore, dragonborn mostly live in small settlements scattered throughout Xorik. The largest dragonborn settlement is the distant city of Dracar, which is deep within the Ruin Desert. After ages of interbreeding, some dragonborn have green, copper, brown, or grey scales. However, scales with vivid colors matching the great dragons is often seen as a sign of a strong bloodline. If a dragonborn's scales match the colors of the evil chromatic dragons, other dragonborn might view that dragonborn with suspicion. As a people, dragonborn are a proud warrior society. Most dragonborn settlements follow a strict hierarchical structure organized by clans. Dragonborn are extreme perfectionists and as such, most leadership positions of honor are awarded by merit. Due to their unique origin, dragonborn almost exclusively worship Bahamut except those that find the cruel teachings of Tiamat more tempting.
