Dracar

Deep within the Ruin Desert lies the dragonborn city of Dracar. The small city was built long ago near the site of ancient ruins of a bygone era. Few outsiders have travelled deep enough into the desert to encounter the dragonborn city and fewer still have made the journey back to the tell the tale due to the dangers of the desert. The dragonborn living in the city mostly devoted to Bahamut. Despite the city's adoration for the Platinum Dragon, secret worshippers of Tiamat frequently cause trouble.

Government

Dracar is ruled by the Council of Swords, which is collection of the 13 most powerful clans in the city. The council derives its name from ancient days where the clans were first led by mighty warriors. Each Clan Elder from the 13 clans serves on the Council of Swords and their decisions are respected by all.

Notable Factions:

  • Platinum Scales: As ancient as the city itself, the Platinum Scales are elite knights of Bahamut that guard the ancient ruins “Crezak” and hunt down any evil in the desert. Dragonborn hoping to join the Platinum Scales must past the Trial of Justice and then serve the scales for life. This is seen as a high honor.
  • Church of Bahamut: By far the largest faith in Dracar, Bahamut can count the vast majority of Dracarian citizens among his worshippers. The Platinum Sanctum is the largest and most ancient of the shrines to the Platinum Dragon but there are numerous smaller shrines and temples throughout the city.
  • The Dark Five: Worship of Bahamut’s evil sister, Tiamat, is outlawed throughout Dracar, but there remains secretive sects devoted to their dark goddess. Over the recent decades, activity from secret cults has increased with rumors circulating of the Dark Five: leaders of Tiamat that represent each of her chromatic dragons. The Council of Swords has been working closely with the Church of Bahamut to root out the Dark Five and their followers.

Notable Locations

  • Temple District: eastern part of Dracar features the large Platinum Sanctum led by Archpriest Vorkul. Nearby is the Mausoleum of the Fallen, which holds the most legendary dragonborn heroes. It is said, when times are dire, legendary heroes are brought back to save the city.
  • Training Grounds: off to the west of the city, the Training Grounds are where young dragonborn gather to learn how to fight and test their skills against one another. Arena contests are usually held during the day at the Trials, where dragonborn can prove themselves as powerful warriors against captured monsters.
  • The Bones: to the north of Dracar, the Bones are near the site of ancient destruction when chromatic dragons tried to overtake the city. During battle, the Red Terror, a dragon overlord, was killed from the sky and fell destroying part of the city. Some of its skeleton is still intact centuries later. Despite the relatively shabby part of the city, many dragonborn live here as they see the skeleton as a sign of their strength. Located in this area is the ancient Platinum Library, home of the legendary Archivist
  • Tuvariss: "old city" in Draconic, Tuvariss is the home to the Council of Swords and their associated clans.
  • Crezak: ancient ruins north of the city that are guarded by the elite knights of the Platinum Scales. The Platinum Scales stop anyone or anything from entering or leaving the ruins.
