Luther

A former member of the Maelstrom Heroes, Luther was a human paladin of Pelor. However, he was killed by his friends after he succumbed to the corruption of the Demon Lord Zoul.
Luther was born in Boriss and served in their military during the Great War. He served a vile commander, nicknamed Baron Blood Soaked, who tested Luther's moral boundaries and made the noble knight lose sight of Pelor's teachings. Near the end of the war, Luther was leading a contingency in a fort, but was surrounded by Thamarian troops. In that old fort, in the dungeons, Luther found an old man, named Zoul, the Corruptor, who offered him the power to save his men if he gave the old man part of his soul. Luther agreed and struck the deal with the old man, who unbeknownst to Luther was actually theDemon Lord Zoul, the Corruptor. The demon lord's corrupting caused Luther to further drift from the light of Pelor and the knight soon became known as the Butcher for the trail of bodies he left behind during the war.
After the war's end, Luther joined Czimor, who Luther hoped could help Luther redeem himself as Czimor was a priest of Pelor. They eventually met with the rogue pirate, Karissa, and begin traveling together. For a while, Czimor helped Luther regain his morals. However, after they escaped prison, that's when Luther would begin to fall back down a dark path. Plagued by visions of an armored knight and his armies conquering Xorik, Luther used more of Zoul's dark gifts in hopes of becoming strong enough to stop his visions. Ultimately, Zoul tricked Luther into falling further into darkness. When the Maelstrom Heroes stopped Kabar, Harbinger of the Corruptor, Luther gave himself to Demon Lord Zoul. Zoul was temporarily released from his ancient prison, until Luther's friends killed Luther.

Dark Reality

In the Dark Reality, the heroes failed to stop Luther/Zoul and instead the demon lord corrupted them just as he had corrupted Luther. With Luther as his mortal vessel, Zoul raised a great army to ravish the world. At some point the possessed Luther had a son with Karissa. Decades later, that son would help open a rift between the two realities for his father's army to invade.
