Boriss

Once established by the rightful heir to King Arakiss, Boriss is the human nation in the southwest of Xorik. Unlike Thamar or the former Marish, Boriss embraces both the arcane and divine magic while also showing a remarkable tolerance towards other races. Geographically, Boriss’s capital is the famous port city of Sol, which was the ancient capital of the former Balorn Kingdom. Sol is a splendor of human determination, diversity, and magical technology courtesy of Boriss’s long alliance with the gnomes of Frasnir . Outside the capital, the citizens of Boriss live in various villages, towns, and smaller cities, including the island city of Seline to the east.

Government

Boriss is a monarchy and was recently ruled by the beloved King Delran III until his recent assassination. After some political chaos, the mantle of rulership has passed to Delran’s cousin, Lord Asmir. There is some contention over what to do with baby Delran IV as his mother was a succubus in disguise. Archmage Aris Womark fiercely guards the baby prince who has shown no signs of his fiendish heritage.

Sol

The capital of Boriss is Sol, which is a large metratroplis built on the western coast. Sol was in fact the capital of the Balorn Kingdom before the Great War. Even more so than the rest of Boriss, Sol is a very diverse city as its historical architecture and port attract many to visit or trade.

City Layout

  • Castle District: In the center of the metropolis upon a hill, the great Balorn Keep towers over most of the city. Around the ancient castle are numerous homes of high level government officials as well as government buildings. There are also buildings to serve as homes for foreign diplomats.
  • Sea District: Snaking alongside the western side of the city, the Sea District is the home of the city’s ports. Also home to many merchants, sailors, and business that profit off the shipping industry.
  • North District: Directly north of the Castle District, this district is home to many of the wealthy and privileged of Sol.
  • South District “Dirt District”: On the southern end of the city, far away from the wealthy in the north, is the infamous Dirt District. Named because many of the city’s poorest inhabit the district.
  • East District: This district is actually split into two areas: the Temple Grounds and the Golden Markets. As diverse as Sol is, nearly every god has a temple or shrine in the Temple Grounds, even some of the more evil gods. The Golden Markets are a relic from the Balorn Kingdom when the empire was the richest in all the land. This area serves as the market for Sol and many people travel to Sol to visit the historical area.
