Elselight Species in Ashton Creek | World Anvil

Elselight

An Elselight is one of the least dangerous Elsebeings. It does not require any sort of nutrition, and provides a constant warm light comparable to that of an oil lantern. It is useful to Elsebringers and other practitioners as its light is much more difficult to block or disspell magically. Be it a cursed place that puts out open flame and fries electronic lights, or a blot of magical darkness, elselights provides clear illumination. The light from an Elselight does not affect brightness sensors or cameras.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They take the shape of a small amorphous creature with 3 holes in what might be its head. Its body is gooey and stringy, and it tends to undulate gently. Typically it has a yellowish off-white color and glows brightly.

Behaviour

Elselights are very basic, being barely active. They could almost be classified as a plantlike elsebeing, were it not for the fact that they can move autonomously. Some believe that there is a deeper mental aspect to elselights, and that their longevity and brightness depends on their mood, though as is so often the case with magic, there is simply not enough conclusive research.
