Blooming Echoes

A Blooming Echo is a type of plantlike elsebeing which is capable of storing sounds which occur close to it. It can then replay the same sounds almost exactly, as many times as one wants. However with each successive repetition, the sound becomes louder. This possibly leads to sounds in the hundreds of decibels which is more akin to a shockwave of sonic energy. At some point the blooming echo will disperse its seeds along with the sonic shockwave, which resets the blooming echo to once again record a sound. Any sounds from the blooming echo fall off very rapidly. Even the loudest sounds can barely be heard or felt only a few hundred feet away.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Blooming Echo looks very much like a large, round flower. It has a thin, supple stem from which tendrils with thick trichomes sprout. The tip of the stem expands into a large, round flower with a spiral pattern of green petals surrounding a hard, dense seed pod which is also green. Around the main flower, a number of tendrils spiral to form additional spirals. These vibrate when a sound is being recorded or played back.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

In times before modern electronics, Blooming Echoes were commonly used by Elsebringers to store sounds, though now they mostly find application as explosive weapons. A Blooming Echo can be disarmed by severing particular tendrils, though it requires training (or luck) to choose the correct ones. Touching the wrong ones cause it to be set off.

Summoning

Like most other plantlike elsebeings, an elsebringer does not summon the fully grown plant. Instead, they summon a seed or sapling, which they can raise to an adult specimen. Blooming Echoes fully mature and are capable of recording sounds within 4 weeks. It requires a soft surface to sprout roots into and no other necessities. It cannot survive in environments with a temperature greater than 60℃.
