The Forest of Idan

It looks like an ocean of blossoms that change their brilliant colors with the seasons. It has an enticing smell, almost inviting. I say almost because I'm not insane! I have seen what happens to fools that wander into the grove. They are nearly instantly beset upon by creatures that can hardly be imagined. However, the forest appears to be made of the same kinds of trees. How is this possible? Perhaps I am insane enough to venture in...

Geography

The Idan is isolated to the north by a high steppe that keeps it safe from the great rolling mega-beast that would have surely flattened in ages ago. To the south, west, and east, the vast seas keep the forest contained. There are a few tribes that live outside of the forest along the beaches on on the steppes but never close to it.

Ecosystem

The Forest of Idan is a see of color, mostly pinks, lavenders, and blues. It pulses at night in a mesmerizing waves of patterns as though something was rippling a pond. The weather in the forest seems an ever constant warmth as it is near the equator and never has it seen snow. It would be a rainforest of some kind, if there there was more diversity of plant but the forest seems to consist of only one kind of tree.
The Idan trees are tall and slender, with most being no wider than half an armspan. The tree sheds its lives continuously in a gentle, glittering rain. If the leaves flutter too far from the forest, they shatter and disappear into the wind, leaving only a scent seemingly different to every homon that gets a whiff. Below the forest canopy, hardly anything much larger than a bush grows, leaving only grasses, fungi, vines, and other brush to make the floor dense like a living carpet.
Every creature that lives in the forest lives off of the leaves and fruit of the Idan trees and become thrall to the magic of the trees. The beasts serve the forest and keep is safe from harm. If danger is detected or a tree is wounded, any beasts nearby capable of fight will come forth ready to defend the forest and eliminate any threat for good. Therefore, the forest is a dangerous and deadly place for Homon who often see the forest as a wealth to be exploited. They have long learned that the Forest of Idan is a place to fear and respect.
Creatures the Homon call "yumboe" or "aziza"  dwell in the forest. They are creatures seemingly out of myth. They most do not share any common resemblance to each other. They are the only creatures that seem to come and go from the forest. Some stay close and interfere with the tribes near the Forest of Idan. Others go far, far into the world, meddling with tribes that have never seen or heard of the magic forest except to make rumor of a land of magic.
The other beasts, however, never tread far from the Idan. They have long become dependent on the leaves and fruit of the Idan trees. They feed on fresh and decaying leaves as well as the other plants that grow in the forest. The predators feed on the other life in the Idan forest keeping all in balance.
Once every 10 years, the forest bursts into blue and white glowing blooms and a single tree in the center of the forest bears bunches of plump fruit. For a time this beautiful event is captivating but after the bloom, terrible creatures erupt from the forest and make war with the surrounding life. These terrible, beautiful creatures are called "Idan Furies", for their wrath is terrible and their might even worse. Fortunately, the beasts quickly return to the Idan by the next Moon , never to be seen again.
