The Black Bramble Swamp

I went into the Black Bramble once. I nearly died - twice. Can't say I recommend it unless you really like dangerous places. Any road, I plan to return in the spring since I never got to see the flowers.
— Loremaster Hanula
A wild, thick jungle of thorny vines and soft ground, the Black Bramble Swamp is nearly impossible to traverse safely. What lies deep inside the swampy jungle is unknown but likely somehow more horrifying than the tangle itself.

Geography

The swamp is bordered by plains to the north and large coniferous forests to the south. The gulf to north provides ample warm weather storms to keep the swamp nourished.

The Deep Tangle

The isthmus connecting the northern continent to the southern continent and the coast have the thickest density of The Black Bramble . This area is mostly swamp and mangrove with passage requiring careful consideration of quicksand, dangerous waterways, and - of course - the Bramble itself, whose tendrils can even be found under water. The isolated tribe of Janiqua-K'uiripu to the north has many tales of the horrors in the Deep Tangle. They occasionally trade with the Tribes to the north that seek their powerful herbal remedies and potions.

The Lower Tangle

The tribes of the Äm Kiej Komon and Märin-Natup Komon inhabit the lower Tangle to the south of the Deep Tangle.  The lands here are less marshy as the thickness of the Bramble is less to the point that some travel is possible. The creatures in the Lower Tangle are less toxic than those in the Deep Tangle however they are no less ferocious.

The Edge Lands

As The Black Bramble  continues west, it's reach wanes considerably.  The Chunniq-Runayuq and Chipipipiy-Runayuq try to fight back the edges of the Bramble for generations.  As the Lord encroaches west, it plants sprouts that poison the land around it if allowed to mature. For this reason They just always be vigilant. In recent generations, the Bramble has separated the two tribes with a stretch of vines such that only the bravest dare cross.

Ecosystem

The Bramble is home to some of the largest insects on Aserere. There are other large predators though most have adaptations that allow them to avoid, use, or mitigate the poison of the Bramble.   Most plant life in the Deep Bramble is low growing due to the lack of light that reaches the ground. In the Lower and Edge Lands there are more trees, less large bugs and larger mammals.
