Barthos Beth - 18th Known Ruler of Revellia

Called the Beneficent

King Barthos Beth

Sometimes called "The Quiet Conqueror," Barthos the Beneficent was the first Revellian king from Clan Beth in recorded history. The exact mechanism wherein he seized power is unclear, but he was granted kingship with the apparent consent of the other chiefs of the canton, as well as the King of Ethel, after the trial and execution of Gwynt the Ghastly, the last king of Clan Ainros.   Barthos' reign began with great celebrations and a "modernizing" of Revellia, popularizing northern notions such as chivalry, regulated spellers, and greater predominance of Host Keeping. He further united East and West by wedding his second son Collium to Lady Donne Sirtal of Dubraigh. Collium was thereafter named Chief of Ships and Prince of the Green Isle, giving the crown official authority over all ships regardless of their origin. Barthos would recreate the royal cabinet with more official titles and responsibilities.   Less than three years into his reign, however, the Stock Wars began. He was resistant to join the fighting, but his first son Prince Barammos was eager for glory, and so Revellia united with the other Southern Cantons against Yvruel. The terrors and triumphs of the Stock Wars are too plentiful to name here, but the king died of a burst heart in 931 RA before the conflict truly took off.   His first son Barammos had already died in the Second Battle of Grinding, so the crown passed to Barthos' grandson, Bennerog the Green Boar.
