A List of Noble Houses of Keledon

"So," said Buck, preparing to launch into a description of politics, which was far from his favorite subject, "the nobility of Keledon be made up o' many noble houses. A few are Great Houses , the rest major and minor."   "So, the common folk work the land they live on, but that land belongs to a House. Let's say ye live in The Haft near the old woods. Mebbe ye be in the land ruled by House Buran. So that House gives you protection and looks after you n' yours, and in return you pay yer taxes t' them. Mebbe coin or mebbe crops. Now, House Buran is a minor house, so they be a vassal of a major one, in this case House Aradin. So they pay tribute to that House, and support 'em in whatever matters need their support. An' House Aradin, being located in the Haft, are vassals of House Morym, who rules the whole Reach in the name o' the Crown, and that'd be our good Queen Heulyn II. If ye be rulin' a whole Reach, you're one of the Great Houses o' the kingdom.   "Now, nobles bein' nobles, they all have titles, an' the title is a symbol o' your rule over yer land. And there be many a title, and a peckin' order among 'em. At the very top is royalty; that be the Queen and hers, so you have the king or queen, and royal princes or princesses. Under them ye get the high nobility, and these be the bigger houses--the Great and the Major. So those titles be:
  • Duke / Duchess

  • Prince/Princess

  • Marquis / Marquess

  • First (or High) Earl
"Unner them ye get the low nobility, but don't let that name fool yeh, they're still aristocrats, the lot of 'em. And they get titles too, them bein':
  • Earl

  • Count

  • Baron / Baroness

  • Baronet

  • Knight
Now, baronets, they be like barons, but there be a difference--if yer a Baron, your heir will be too. But iffin' ye be a baronet, your heir don't inherit the title. Same for knights--some o' them might have another title, but usually they're just warriors who have themselves granted a small estate. An' nobles can 'ave more than one title. Fer an' easy example, his Lordship Rendar Alens is the Duke of Blackmoor, but he's also Marquis of Kulain, High Earl of Eldyn, and Count of Westhill. The biggest title is the one that shows you 'is true rank. Even the Crown plays this game too. Her Majesty is the Queen, t' be sure, but also Duchess of Kingsland, First Earl of Hawksholme, Marquess of the Northmarches, and Baroness of Hawksbridge   "Every house has its standard, too, meaning its own symbol. Usually they choose one that tells yeh somethin' about them or their history. House Alens uses a big brown bear, fer example, while House Ebeðar uses the raven, and House Aradin uses the owl, but not all houses use animals.

Forms of Address

"Now, when ye be speakin; t' the nobility, they're all called Lord or Lady, or sometimes by their rank, like Lord Rendar r' Lord Alens, but sometimes their biggest title be a name for 'em too. Duke o' Blackmoor, ye might say. We call the Queen "yer Grace."   "Now, lemme list off some o' the Houses here for yeh."

Great Houses

"First o' course we'll list the Great Houses, they bein' eleven in number iffin' ye don't count House Halad, bein' the Queen's own, and the mightiest and most influential of all the noble houses. In terms o' military an' economic might, they dwarf many of the smaller houses completely. Each has roots stretching far back to the earliest days of the kingdom; some beyond even that.

House Alens

Associated Title: Duke of Blackmoor   Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Rendar Alens   Seat: Blackmoor   Sigil: A brown bear   Vassal Houses: Aldwyn, Korentin, Lowold, Rickard   They're one of the older noble houses. Duke Rendar was a hero during the war that followed the death of Heulyn II's brother and was instrumental in restorin' her to the throne, and now he's Lord Warden of the Realm too.

House Argawain

Associated Title: Duke of Blackfordshire   Argawain Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Seldar Argawain   Seat: Blackford   Sigil: a black pelican   Vassal Houses: Anyeir, Galdor, Mabon, Mailer, Midcliff   The blood o' this house kin be traced right on back to old King Sothar kesGalen hisself, and they be an old, old house. Now a few generations back they tried a rebellion aginst th' Crown, and that cost most o' the main line their lives right quick. So lordship and land passed to a cousin in the family who'd been wise enough to stay out o' the treachery. Even since then they've been tryin' to clean up their name, but people got long memories and it's a longer road, methinks

House Borudh

Associated Title Prince of the Black Isle   Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Martyn Borudh   Seat: Black Harbour   Sigil: a ship at sea   Vassal Houses: Afran, Lioch, Taymon   So bein' that House Borudh makes its home in the Isles, you'd assume they're a naval power and right good at ship-buildin', and yeh'd be right. In fact, they're so good asea that they're why erryone says Keledon kint be attacked over the water. Now, back when Balar's Rebellion started up they were real slow to choose a side, and rightly the Queen ain't forgotten that. But bein as the current Prince o' the Isles has been nothin' but loyal, and serves as Master o' Sail, it might change.

House Derthion

Associated Title: Prince of Elbana   Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Alysa Derthion   Seat: Waymoon   Sigil: a boar's head   Vassal Houses: Daithal (Lothin), Haleson, Ular   House Derthion is one of the few ruled by a woman these days, but they be connected by water to the capital and the port o' Kalabar, so they've a good place in trade from there to Sen an' the Sixlunds. They're rulin' over part of the heartlands of Keledon, bein' also the Haft and the Dalelands.

House Dreigar

Associated Title: Duke of South Avendur   Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Brandyr kesDreigar   Seat: Blackhearth   Sigil: a dragon   Vassal Houses: Kuchlayn (Kylan), Lorkan, Urdan (Marduch)   House Dreigar is, without a doubt, one o' the oldest and noblest houses in the whole kingdom. They been rulin' in South Avendur since Sothar hisself, and if there is any more fiercely honorable and grim blood in the whole land, I'd like t'see it. Back in the days when Akaryth was always tryin' somethin' through Kardas Pass, sure but it was Dreigar who beat 'em senseless every time.

House Ebeðar

Associated Title: Prince of Abethred   Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Edrick Ebethar   Seat: Abred (Abred)   Sigil: a raven   Vassal Houses: Mael, Rithyr (Glynn), Tiran   We talked about the Ravens once before, me lad, and remember that "raven" ain't an insult, as its what their name means. They be another ancient house, like Dreigar, rooted back in th' days before the kingdom was a kingdom. Sure, they be a strange lot, with their own ways that're even stranger, but bein' as they rule the Dalelands, along with Morym and Derthion, they're the keepers o' the oldest ways and th' most sacred places.

House Halad

Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Queen Heulyn II   Seat: Hawksholme since becoming the royal house; traditionally Hawksbridge.   Sigil: a unicorn on a green field   Vassal Houses: Beyran, Eimor, Hedwyn, Merund, Taleth   House Halad is o' course the Royal House of Keledon, having assumed such status under Gendar Halad, thereafter known as Gendar IV (d. 1730 AS). The House was originally a common one; its rise to the nobility began in 1498 AS, during the reign of Gendar I. Valiant deeds in battle led to a knighthood for Rath Halad; his son, Koruth, rose to prominence as well and gained the Earldom. Fortuitous marriages and alliances ultimately brought House Halad to the throne, but there be much more t' their history.

House Kaerwyn

Associated Title: Duke of Kardashire   Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Gaenor Kaerwyn   Seat: Kareton-on-Avenda   Sigil: a mountain goat on a field of red   Vassal Houses: Eddayn, Gwennyl, Mared   House Kaerwyn be a stalwart defender as they say, o' their lands and the surrounding region of Keledon. Two celebrated fortresses, Karda's Eye and Brand Keep, are both found within their borders and are maintained by 'em. As traditional defenders of the kingdom, they are often close allies of House Dreigon, although the two have not always seen eye to eye when it comes to strategy and tactics. The sigil of the House, the goat, represents the mountainous terrain of Kardashire and the surefooted hardiness of the Kaerwyns.

House Kurdwyn

Associated Title: Duke of Galwydd   Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Maeglin Kurdwyn   Seat: Gwynedd (Lothyan)   Sigil: a golden lion on a field of blue   Vassal Houses: Gwilherm (Sharn), Talfyn (Orayn), Willard   House Kurdwyn be very closely allied with House Halad; and there've been many a marriage that proves that. The Knights of the Griffon have gained some of their greatest members from this House, well-regarded for their loyalty to the Crown and devotion to honour and duty. House Kurdwyn is an old house, but not one of the original ones of Keledon. They're very close t' the Crown and to House Halad, and along with House Alens form a trio of staunch allies.

House Morym

Associated Title: Prince of Keldhwen   Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Arthim KesMorym   Seat: Keldhwen (Gathan)   Sigil: three lions on a field of black   Vassal Houses: Aradin (Brogan, Buran), Dionne, Leolin   Another o' the old houses, Morym was kings in the Haft before Sothar, or at least, they was rulers. They used to use one lion on their banner, but now its three, seeing as how three of their number made good through adventure n' heroics, the Three Lions o' Morym. Now, House Morym rules, along with Derthion and Ebethar, the heart o' the realm, and like the others they be mighty close with the Druids and the Old Ways.

House Terwin

Associated Title: Duke of Southmarch   Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Willem Terwin   Seat: Oakmotte (Southmarches)   Sigil: a stallion on a field of red and gold   Vassal Houses: Hunter, Longstaff, Magard, Maeleth   Now, when it comes to horses and those associated with 'em, knights and so on, House Terwin is the name o'er all names. They rule away off in the Marches, right near the edge o' the kingdom and comin' up to the Sixlunds. Now, during Balar's Rebellion House Terwin supported Balar, which was a huge mistake. Their Duke, Maeg Terwin, got hisself captured, and ransomin' him took them off the board. He's gone now, though, and is his son Willem who rules the Marches now. The Knights of the Griffon especially use their horses to ride, being the strongest of all in the land, and possibly related t' Lathani breeds.

House Windmere

Associated Title: Duke of Kalabar   Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Joryn Windmere   Seat: Kalabar (Kalabshire)   Sigil: a silver fish on a field of blue   Vassal Houses: Blackshaw, Ferrick, Holt, Korbin   The Windmeres, they be one of the wealthiest Houses of Keledon. As rulers of the kingdom's biggest port and a large shippin' industry House Windmere is also well known for shrewd business dealings and a keen diplomatic sense. Due to their naval strength, they be truly close with House Borudh, being the only one stronger asea than Windmere. They be close to the Crown too, with the Duke servin' as Master of Coin.

Major Houses

House Aradin

Associated Title: Marquis of the Barrows   Liege: House Morym   Current Head of House: Davyd Aradin   Seat: Barrow's Dell (Gwynneth)   Sigil: a silver owl on a field of black   Vassal Houses: Brogan, Buran   Well, we've talked about House Aradin and how fittin' the owl is as their sigil. The Woodmere lies in their holdins, so right it is that they command respect. And close they are with their liege, House Morym, and there ain't many who keep to the Old Ways as religiously (ha ha) as the Owls do.

House Daithal

Associated Title: High Earl of Dalen   Liege: House Derthion   Current Head of House: Dunstan Daithal   Seat: Dalen's Green   Sigil; a golden harp on a field of green   Vassal Houses: Lothin   House Daithal is one that cleaves well to the Old Ways of the land, honoring the departed and the spirits of the Land Behind at local stone circles and othe sacred sites. Their keepin' to the lore and history is also a well-known and they frequently employs bards and musicians to document important events. Despite their closeness to the Old Ways, House Daithal is not always on the friendliest of terms with the Druids, who they sometimes consider pompous, inflated and completely unneeded.   In token of Daithal's love of music and patronage of bards, its sigil is that of a golden harp, on a field of green and grey, representing the fog shrouded moors of its holdings.

House Dionn

Associated Title: High Earl of Lungard   Liege: House Morym   Current Head of House: Neilham Dionn   Seat: Lungard Castle   Sigil: a silver crescent moon on a field of blue   Vassal Houses: none   House Dionn is an old line, though never a great one. Its lands are found in the Haft, and not far from the Woodmere; the Dionns see themselves as guardians of that sacred site, although it lies in the lands of House Aradin, and take their task very seriously, while rubbing Aradin the wrong way over this. There are very strong connections between House Dionn and the Druids of the Whitestag, several of which are sons and daughters of the House.

House Eddayn

Associated Title: High Earl of Karsrun   Liege: House Kaerwyn   Current Head of House: MIkar Eddayn   Seat: Karston   Sigil: golden scales on a field of red   Vassal Houses: none   Now, House Eddayn, they be known for a strong sense o' justice and a right swift carryin' out o' sentences and orders. Now, they backed our Queen during Balar's Rebellion, but less due t' their liege's support and more because they believed in truth that the legal position she gave was correct. House Eddayn chose the side it felt had the most legally supportable claim to the throne, and none else. In the end, the decision was a wise one, and House Eddayn rose from an Earldom to a High Earldom, increasing its standin' within the kingdom. The House's sigil, scales of justice, represent their allegiance to the principle, while its red and gold field--the national colors--remind all of their support of the monarch.

House Eimor

Associated Title: Marquis of Whitemare Island   Liege: House Halad   Current Head of House: Mylle Eimor   Seat: Whitemare Rock   Sigil: a lighthouse on a field of blue   Vassal Houses: none   House Eimor, they're a direct vassal o' the Crown, and a fiercely loyal one at that. Their lands are mainly on some rock islands off the coast o' Kingsland, where they build some ships and offer 'em to the Queen. I kint say fer sure, but I'm sure the Queen uses those when she wants to move things without Windmere or Borudh bein' aware. They be as close to the Crown as the Queen's own crown, as tis said.

House Gwilherm

Associated Title: High Earl of Leagard   Liege: House Kurdwyn   Current Head of House: Maynard Gwilherm   Seat: Leagard   Sigil: crossed swords and a scepter on a field of purple   Vassal Houses: Sharn   House Gwilherm has, over the last century and a half, greatly improved its standing among the kingdom's nobility, rising from Baron to Count, and onto Earl and then the High Nobility in three generations. House Gwilherm ain't foolish and they know how to use their relationship with House Kurdwyn t' their advantage, and has wisely, and sparingly, done it. House Gwilherm took as its sigil two crossed and a sceptre, representing its deep respect for honor in war and its prowess on the battlefield. The purple remembers the days the ancient ancestors of the House fought in the Battle of Hawksbridge.

House Kuchlayn

Associated Title: Marquis of the Dogswood   Liege: House Dreigar   Current Head of House: Osgar Cuchlayn   Seat: Dogswood Motte   Sigil: a gray hound on a gray field   Banner Houses: Kylan   Now House Kuchlayn is a loyal vassal o' House Dreigar, and now control lands nearing the older fortress of Kardas Eye, although that be just over the border into Kardashire. It's lands be stony and forested, without producing a great deal of food. However there are some mineral resources within the scope o' its holdings that are expoited well enough to keep the family in comfort. THe people tend to be harder and more dour than those from other, more welcoming and hospitable parts of the kingdom. The hound, bein' symbol of the House, represents its loyalty and perseverence.

House Lorkan

Associated Title: High Earl of Ebondale   Liege: House Dreigar   Current Head of House: Arold Lorkan   Seat: Ebondale   Sigil: a white ram's head on a field of black   Vassal Houses: none   One of House Dreigar's vassal Houses, House Lorkan has a reputation for sterness bordering on cruelty. It is certain that crime is almost non-existent in their holdings, but House Dreigar has, on more than one accassion, found itself having to intervene in excessively harsh measures undertaken by Lorkan. In recent years Lorkan seems to have settled down, but years of peace likely only mask the brutal thirst for blood for which Lorkan is well-known.

House Mailer

Associated Title: Marquis of Dansbury   Liege: House Argawain   Current Head of House: Hewitt Mailer   Seat: Dansbury Castle   Sigil: a golden coin on a silver field   Vassal Houses: none   So House Mailer made its early fortune in smithing some of the most excellent chainmail in the kingdom--hence it's name. It's rise into the Low Nobility began with this craft, and they soon began to work gold and silver as well. The House rose into the High Nobility when its skill at working metals led to its appointment as the Royal Minter, under Gendar IV . Through means above or below board, House Mailer prospered like never before, retainin' their position for generations. Today, the House remains in charge of minting the royal currency; they are notably attempting to form a closer bond with Joryn Windmere , Duke of Kalabar and Master of the Purse, and they ain't secret about it.

House Megard

Associated Title: Marquis of Moreg   Liege: House Terwin   Current Head of House: Erik Megard   Seat: Moreg   Sigil: two crossed axes and a scepter in black, on a field of white   Vassal Houses: none   Well, House Megard's lands be found far from the capital, in the rough lands of Southern Sen. Seein' as how King Gendar, fourth o' that name took that land from Sen, it's a rough place to be lords. There it leads a restless period of peaceful cooperation between us Keledoni and the small pockets of Sennish who still live there--often of a seperatist bend.

House Merund

Associated Title: Prince of Eddaran   Liege: The Crown   Current Head of House: Rand Merund   Seat: Eddathan   Sigil: a red rose on a field of white   Vassal Houses: none   House Merund's lands are out on the edges o' Kingsland, and it pledges fealty directly to the Crown, and House Halad. Rand Merund is a stern and silent warrior, well educated in a number of different topics. While he spent time living and studying among the Druids, there is no evidence of a particularly close relationship between them today.

House Rithyr

Associated Title: High Earl of Brackenvale   Liege: House Ebethar   Current Head of House: Evard Rithyr   Seat: Bracken Hall   Sigil: golden keys on a field of red   Vassal Houses: Glynn

House Talfyn

Associated Title: Marquis of Bransdale   Liege: House Kurdwyn   Current Head of House: Hugh Talfyn   Seat: Bransdale   Sigil: crossed white oak leaves on a field of green   Vassal Houses: Orayn   House Talfyn is close to the Old Ways of doing things, and close to the Druids of the realm as well. They venerate local gods and spirits related to their orchards and agricultural produce; their honey and thus mead are key products in the holding. They ain't known for fightin' or soldiery, but for the wealth o' field n' harvest.

House Tiran

Associated Title: High Earl of Tirmaog   Liege: House Ebethar   Current Head of House: Mathad Tiran   Seat: Tirmaoc   Sigil: a red apple on a grey shield on a field of red   Banner Houses: none   House Tiran occupies some of the most fertile farmland in all of the kingdom, located within the heart of the Dalelands. Like its Leige, House Tiran is sometimes thought of as creepy n' preoccupied with death by others. For Tiran, this is because of their traditional emphasis on the harvest season, and defiant bonfires held through the darkness of Longest Night.

House Ular

Associated Title: High Earl of Oakford   Current Head of House: Maegin kesUlar   Seat: Oakford Bridge   Sigil: a sheaf of golden wheat on a green field   Vassal Houses: none   House Ular was founded, accordin' to stories, by a Druid who had left the Order, returning to a life he had forsaken. The truth of this story is unknown, but I find it doubtful meself. Be that as it may, House Ular is highly represented within the kingdom’s Druidic priesthood, and Maeglin kesUlar consults his court druid regularly.

House Urdan

Associated Title: High Earl of Sturmond   Liege: House Dreigar   Current Head of House: Holder Urdan   Seat: Sturmond Tower   Sigil: a golden sun on a field of red   Vassal Houses: Marduch   House Urdan has a reputation for fierceness in battle and an indominable spirit in the face of all opposition. This hot-headedness tends to spill over into most of their dealings. However, while they be quick to anger, they are equally quick to forget, especially when their own tempers were the culprit. Urdan's seat of power, Sturmond, is a well-built stronghold with direct access to major waterways, linking it directly to the holdings of their leige, House Dreigar.

Minor Houses

House Afran

Associated Title: Baron of Gull Harbor   Liege: House Borudh   Current Head of House: Ormund Afran   Seat: Gull Harbor   Sigil: a seagull on a field of blue   A minor House of the Islands, beholden to House Borudh. Like all the Island Houses, Afran has a tradition of seamanship and reliance on the sea. Afran is one of the kingdom's newer Houses, having attained its position by lendin;' great assistance to the Crown in it's dealing with Akarthan privateers. Afran's sigil represents the shores of Gull Harbor, surrmounded by a crown representing their mastery of their isle.

House Aldwyn

Associated Title: Baron of Aldwyn   Liege: House Alens   Current Head of House: Theo Aldwyn   Seat: Aldwyn   Sigil: a golden stag on a field of green   So Theo of Aldwyn was th' most celebrated leader of the Lowborn Militias, and was twice wounded in Balar's Rebellion. Son of a blacksmith, Theo proved capable enough as a warrior and stories spread of his skill and ferocity with a great hammer. Theo has remained true to his roots as a Baron, and is popular with the commoners who now reside under his rule. His sigil represents the wild forests and hunting that have shaped his life. He is one of the four Barons Mendicant.

House Anyeir

Associated Title: Earl of the Rockford   Liege: Argawain   Current Head of House: Thom Anyeir   Seat: Rockford   Sigil: a compass rose on a field of black   A vassal house of the Argawains, House Anyeir has carefully nagivated its way through the thorny relationship between its Liege House and the Crown. The compass rose, the House's sigil, speaks to its history as a family of exploration and cartography. The Anyeirs often send their sons to study for a period abroad, among the teachers of the Three Jewels or west to the Sixlunds.

House Beyran

Associated Title: Baron of Ravensdale   Liege: House Halad   Current Head of House: Alrik Beyran   Seat: Ravensdale   Sigil: crossed hammers on a field of red   House Beyran came into its position when Alrik Beyran and three of his friends assembled and led the Lowborn Militia during Balar's Rebellion. He became thereafter one of the Barons Mendicant. Of the four barons, Alrik became closest to Seldhe before her coronation. Thus, the lands given him are in the Southlands, not far from the capital itself, and just beyond the border of Hawksbridge, bein' the Queen's own family seat. As the son of a smith, Beyran has supported that craft as a member of the Low Nobiity, and is gaining a reputation for the production of quality steel weapons.

House Blackshaw

Assocaited Title: Baron of the Blackshaws   Liege: House Windmere   Current Head of House: Jord Blackshaw   Seat: The Blackshaws   Sigil: a black paw print on a field of green   Bein' the third o' the Barons Mendicant, Jord Blackshaw was granted lands not far from where he grew up. As the first Baron of the Blackshaws, he's developed good reationships with both his liege, House Windmere of Kalabar, and the near by Baron of Knightshome, Lord Commander of the Knights of the Griffon. He is a known supporter of the Order and its aims, and has been recenty honoured with invitations to the yearly gatherin' of its Knights. Bein' that he's one of Barons Mendicant, he's popular wit' the common folk and the Crown.

House Brogan

Associated Title: Baron of Woodwalk   Liege: House Aradin   Current Head of House: Welsford Brogan   Seat: Madershill   Sigil: a golden tree on a field of green   House Brogan, well, it be minor in rank an' minor in importance, but serves as a vassal to Aradin. Welsford Brogan is a man well past his prime, but in his youth was famed as one of the best archers in the kingdom. The sigil of his House is a tree, representin' the wood from which bows and arrows be made; House Brogan produces fine archers and prides itself on it. House Brogan is ambitious, but lacks the real resources needed to advance itself. The House is also one that has difficulty gaining and maintaining allies; diplomacy has never been its strong suit, and currently the House is best suited as a minor one.

House Buran

Associated Title: Count/ess of Highmoon    Liege: House Aradin   Current Head of House: Elinora Buran   Seat:Highmoon    Sigil: a golden lion and a fill moon on a field of dark blue   A vassal house of House Aradin, and thus House Morym in its time, House Buran is known for a stong association with the Lady of the Moon and the Druids of the land. The current Lady of the house, Elinora Buran, Countess of Highmoon, is an able and skillful leader and has worked tirelessly to pursue a policy of neutrality in the dealings of the other Houses. As a banner House this has been a far more difficult challenge, but one to which the Countess has risen admirably. Now, 'er house is the one that most deeply loves the wild woods o' the Haft, and her son be well known for wanderin' those woods among its folk.

House Ferrick

Associated Title: Count of Elsforge   Liege: House Windmere   Current Head of House: Ulger Ferrick   Seat: Elsford   Sigil: a white lynx's head on a field of red   House Ferrick's holdins lie along the southern side of the Order of the Griffon's holdings in Knightshome, and north from those of its liege, House Windmere in Kalabar. Along this wilder stretch of hilly and wooded land, House Ferrick guards the western edge of more settled lands from the wilder lands leading to the sea. It's sigil, a lynx, represents its sure footed and solitary nature.

House Galdor

Associated Title: Baron of Cockscrow   Liege: House Argawain   Current Head of House: Theodric Galdor   Seat: Cockscrow Hall   Sigil: a golden songbird on a field of blue   In days long past House Galdor was a much more noble and powerful family, House Gladen. A series of real bad decisions and hard times completely decimated the family's fortunes, and left it in the poorhouse, and bereft of honor. Finally wiped out in a plague in the late 1700s AS, the fortunes of the House passed to a cousin, who was created Baron of Cockscrow in place of the previous Earldom of House Gladen. In the following century, House Galdor has worked to restore itself to a better position, and is now poised to be one of the up-and-coming minor Houses of the next century, assumin' they can keep their feet straight on th' road.

House Glynn

Associated Title: Earl of Wolf's Rock   Liege: House Rithyr   Current Head of House: Joren Glynn   Seat: Wolf's Rock   Sigil: a wolf's head on a field of green   The holdings of the venerable House Glynn are covered in pine forests, which give rise to the colorin' of the House's standard. A snarling wolf, symbolising the family's seat and its dogged pursuit of its aims, completes the standard. House Glynn is a banner house to House Rithyr, and thus onwards to House Ebethar.

House Gwenyl

Associated Title: Count of Eagle's Rock   Liege: House Kaerwyn   Current Head of House: Roland Gwenyl   Seat: Eagle's Rock   Sigil: a white goat's head on a field of sky blue   Gwenyl be a small House, whose lands are tough and rocky and population small. However they be a loyal and devoted vassal to House Kaerwyn, and oversee the southern approach to Kardas Pass. For its sigil the House has taken the surefooted and fearless mountain goat, and the clear blue skies above it. House Gwenyl has worked slowly, but tirelessly, to enhance the already considerable natural defenses of their holdings. They are known to be nearly unrivalled in their grasp of alpine strategy and tactics.

House Haleson

Associated Title: Baron of Fellcrow   Liege: House Derthion   Current Head of House: Wil Haleson   Seat: Fellcrow   Sigil: a badger on a field of gray   Notes: Known as 'The Badger' during Balar's Rebellion, Wil Haleson took that animal as his House's sigil. Bein' one o' the Barons Mendicant he 'as proven to be a stern and grim but just lord, treating those living under him as family, and fiercely defending those under his protection. He is also well known for his incredibly loyalty to the Crown; many whisper that this member of the Barons Mendicant has always pined away for Seldhe, who, as Queen, is well beyond his reach. House Haleson makes its fortune from some of the quarries and mines formerly controlled by House Lanthar, which was wiped out in Balar's Rebellion. Rewarded with some of that House's lands, Wil Haleson, First Baron of Fellcrow, has erected a well-built and powerful series of defenses within his land, greatly improving them and becoming closer to House Derthion, a daughter of which he took as wife.

House Hedwyn

Associated Title: Earl of Arborsfell   Liege: House Halad   Current Head of House: Edmon Hedwyn   Seat: Arborsfield   Sigil: a gray tree on a silver field   House Hedwyn is one of the Queen's direct vassal Houses, its lands lying near the capital in the rich belt of the Kingslands. The wealth of the House comes from its agricultural output, which has led to its sigil--a gray tree on a field of silver. Many of the farmers and other peasants within Hedwyn's holdins adhere to much purer, more ancient beliefs concerning agriculture and the Gods.
