Blackfang Mountains

"Born Melegmorn," Buck said, again pointing to his tattered old map and slapping his index finger down on The Haft. "Those're the mountains o' the Haft. Not as large a range as th' Ironfist Mountains, o' course, but tall and made of stone so black ye'd miss 'em in the dark. They be two ranges, or more proper, one that seems t' be cleft in two, with a great delve between 'em. And that deep valley, she runs for many a mile, full o' hills and deep forest so thick and dark it seems night comes early every day."
"The stone o' those mountains, it be harder than most, and bein' we're discussin' stone, that's sayin' somethin. House Morym runs mines up in 'em, gold n' iron n' copper I warrant, but the minin' be slow. But the stone there, they use it t' build their fortifications, and so do their vassals. Those mines all be in the south range, or so I've been told. Not much to find up in the northern peaks, or at least, not that anyone's yet found."
"Now, I mentioned the woods there. The people o' the Haft, they're grim and dour enough as it is, but them that live near that forest, they're the hardest men ye'll ever meet, an' ever since I was a boy I've 'eard the tales o' those woods, where they say things live, great beasts and them without form also. Bein' so thick and dark t'would be right easy for someone not familiar with the land t' get lost there, and seein' as how long that valley is, ye might not ever see yer way back to clear sunlight, and that's assumin' whatever lives there don't eat ya first."
