Gambler's Dice

The Gambler's Dice are a set of dice forged by a nameless prophet dedicated to Nidryshim, the Travesty of Change.   The Dice are said to siphon luck from the user's future, bringing good fortune to them in the present, in exchange for poor fortune in the future. A famous example of this is Craglus Ironbreaker, a Dwarven noble who, seeking to improve the station of his people after Victorius Saccan's Elf-March, used the dice to make his community, and himself, rich. However, he was slain in a freak meteor strike two weeks later. Historians believe this was an effect of the dice.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

In terms of gameplay, when rolling these dice, the player can choose to gain advantage on any roll. However, for every roll the player manipulates, fate demands a repayment. At a DM-determined moment, you suffer disadvantage on a critical roll, often at the worst possible time.
