Chronostone
The Chronostone is an artifact of terrible power, said to be able to add or remove time to a object or person, increasing or decrease their age at will. The Chronostone is a large hand-held pebble, said to be smooth, bearing a single rune depicting the The Clever Folk's word for Time.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
By rubbing the rune and speaking in a forbidden tongue, the Chronostone can take the user in any point throughout time, but not space. However, the accuracy of the Chronostone decreases with each use, eventually casting the user adrift in the vastness of eternity.
There are two known Chronostones; a pure form that simply add or removes time to the target, or travel through time, and the corrupted form, which can remove a target from time itself.
History
The Chronostones play a key role in The Chronostones. It is said that the stones were created by Esorin, a great time wizard who became obsessed with seeing his lost-love once more. The Stone was his life's work, and allowed him to travel back in time to give the stone back to his younger self. However, this paradox caused Time itself to intervene, sealing Esorin and the Stone in its own pocket dimension.
Esorin eventually escaped, causing him to become the Travesty known as K'Niff. K'Niff declared war on Time, eventually leading him to being cast back to his own realm, while the stone itself was left behind.
Significance
The Chronostones are rumoured to play a significant role in several key points throughout history, however, due to their nature of affecting time, records of the stones usage are few and far between.
