8.0 - Casting Shadows Report
General Summary
The party wakes and takes four days in Lyston doing various things.
Atani: Earns some money performing in various areas of the city. Quite the flutist. She also gathers supplies for brewing wine while they travel to their next destination.
Holg: Hits up the library at the The Varlsaeum to study from the anatomy and physiology books there. The night before they all leave, he has a strange dream about the clocks he saw in the rift and being stuck in a loop of becoming younger then snapping back to his current age.
Kallista: Hangs out, and is grumpy that Sil'Ferrous temporarily removed the fancy infusion from her bow.
Kilith: Spends a day with each other companion.
Sil'Ferrous: Makes and sells experimental potions. Does research on his Script book every night, with Holg's assistance and sometimes Atani's drunken insight. Between the 3 of them, they are fairly confident in saying the vertical bars indicate the end of a sentence/phrase.
They scavenge the safe house and find a few stashed rations and full water skins. Also, in the back near the wash basin, they find a scrap of—what Kallista is able to specifically identify as bloodhound—fur and a small pouch of powdered silver. None of them are sure what this would have been used for, though.
They discuss their plan of action, settling on heading to Riner Ånd by taking the land route to Hvithavon and then the ferry to Klarhavon.
Walking to Hvithavon will take 6 days. On the night of the second day, they feel that familiar feeling of being watched. Sil'Ferrous casts a sudden burst of light and everyone notices a shadow that does not move the same as the others cast by the trees. Sil'Ferrous and Kilith take point to chase it down, with Atani in the mid and Holg and Kallista taking the rearguard. After a bit of unsuccessful light waving and hunting, Kilith activates his divine sense. And he feels a very familiar, angry, fiendish presence. He calls out Korinth, the shadow demon they encountered in the rift. Korinth reveals itself as a barely-humanoid shaped void, and stands before Kilith. Though Sil'Ferrous inadvertently insults and enrages Korinth, Kilith manages to convince Korinth to get its warden to confront the party, in person. Perhaps. Korinth vanishes without a word.
