Physical Description

General Physical Condition

A skilled and active knight, Yonec maintains himself in peak physical condition, aided by his fae heritage.

Apparel & Accessories

Yonec wears a small, ruby diadem, a gift from his mother Britomart, of Sidhe construction but unknown magical effect. Yonec typically wears blue palettes, most commonly a set of armor, based of of the suit of the legendary Muldumarec, or a tailored suit resembling a windguard uniform.   Yonec's armour, inspired by that of his forebear, consists of blued steel with a large, shield-shaped breasplate with the emblem of a silver goshawk emblazoned on its front. This is finished with a high-collared cape and an elaborate winged helmet.   Yonec's formal civilian outfit is a blue jacket with dark blue lapels, with dark grey cloth pants and black boots. A half-cape, secured with a winged silver brooch and capped with a golden epaulet, completes the ensemble.

Specialized Equipment

Yonec carries a Silversteel blade, an approximation of the legendary lost sword Chrysaor.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Yonec's story began before his birth, with the union of Britomart of Kernev and Muldumarec Artegall, the de Danaan champion of the Alliance of the Broceliande. During the disastrous Sacking of Gwened, the unknowingly pregnant Britomart was captured by Formorian High King Balor Oneye. Kept in Balor's castle at Tor Mór, Britomart was rescued by Muldumarec, who perished in the process.   Britomart's escape from Tor Mór pushed her ship into the Feth Fiada, where it became lost between the worlds. Britomart and her son, Yonec, landed on a remote island off Normandi's Contentin Peninsula, living the simple life of hermits until a chance encounter brought them into contact with the Viscount of Coutances. Enchanted by Britomart's Fey-touched beauty, the Viscount fell in love and began to court the mysterious and aloof woman, eventually marrying her and adopting Yonec, who was raised as the Viscount's son.   Growing into an enterprising teenager, Yonec became fascinated by his stepfather's shipyards at Carusburg and he spent much time there, listening to the sailor's stories of the Fortunate Isles. It was with some surprise that he became the subject of another's attentions, with the arrival of Argantel de Guesclin, a young warrior who arrived from the Lost Peninsula. She recognized Yonec's resemblance to Muldumarec and declared herself to be the lordling's Ambaxtoi, citing an ere-hud sworn to the Golden Falcon. She continued to insist on both Yonec's heritage and her role, despite Yonec's protests and confusion. Britomart forbade Yonec from speaking with du Guesclin, although the girl regularly followed Yonec when he left the castle grounds and the pair spoke several times, becoming friends.   Things came to a head with an attack by the Finfolk on the Carusburg. The young knight valiantly defended the ships, aided by du Guesclin. He caught the attention of the Finfolk, who mistook him for Muldumarec, causing the raiders to route and flee back to the sea. Yonec confronted Britomart, who finally relented and revealed Yonec's heritage.   Following an outbreak of the Shivers in Coutances, Yonec, with du Guesclin in tow, was sent to Navarra. Rough weather forced the ship to dock in Sant-Maloù. With the ship badly damaged, Yonec opted to cross the peninsula by land, planning to rendez-vous with the ship at Gwened once it was repaired. Outside of Roazhon, Yonec drove out a group of bandits, earning the acclaim of the local villages. Inspired, Yonec declared himself a knight errant and continued to operate in Eastern Letha, attracting the attention of the powerful forces preparing for war in the region...

Gender Identity

Yonec identifies as male.

Sexuality

Yonec is a heterosexual male, preferring female partners. His devotion to chivalrous abstinence has limited his romantic partners, considerably, however.

Education

Raised in the Norman Court of Countances by his stepfather, Yonec received an education befitting a Norman lordling, trained in warfare, eloquence and history, receiving the majority of instruction from the master of arms at Kastell Gratot and a Tuatha Bard from Gorias on Emain Ablach. Yonec excelled as both a swordsman and a poet, surpassing expectations in his studies.

Mental Trauma

Yonec suffers from chronic insomnia and does not require sleep, a result of the Fae heritage.

Morality & Philosophy

Yonec, inspired by the tales of chivalry and exploits of his legendary parents, has adopted a role as a champion of the downtrodden, taking up a sword as a knight errant. His sympathies with the faerie peoples and insistence on meddling against injustices has put him at odds with powerful political figures, most notably "Sant" Charlez Blaez. Yonec's political connections to the neutral Norman court and popularity among the masses has made him publicly untouchable for overt targetting.

Taboos

Yonec holds himself to a rigorous standard of chivalry.   Yonec will never, under any circumstances, kill an unarmed person, letting opponents re-arm or offering a weapon to a foe without one.   Yonec is true to his word, and considers betrayal of any sort anathema, which puts him at odds with his more duplicitous or pragmatic compatriots.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Yonec hopes to one day avenge Muldumarec's death and oust High King Balor from Caerwent.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Yonec's close companion and bodyguard is Argantel du Guesclin.

Wealth & Financial state

Yonec comes from several long and varied noble lineages, claiming ancestry from the sovereign houses of Kernev, Normandi and Logres. Despite these claims, much of his full wealth is outside his reach, the Tydorel line extinguished in Kernev and the holdings of Caerwent in the hands of his enemies.   The Norman branch of house Tydorel holds the cities of Cosedia and Carusburg, and with them, valuable shipping drydocks, the centre of Norman shipbuilding. These holdings allow House Tydorel to exert influence over Norman politics and maintain a comfortable standard of living.
