Lordship of Gwengamp
Structure
The smallest realm of the "Heart of Dreger", the Lordship is located on the Eastern Edge of the Dregered Capital region and marks the end of the direct County control. The Lordship of Dreger is usually an appendage for the Count's younger siblings. Its capital, and only town of note, is also called Gwengamp.
Public Agenda
The Lords of Gwengamp are usually from the immediate family of the Count of Dreger, if not the Count themselves. They traditionally have tight connections with the Viscounty-Bishopric of Landreger and for the most part follow its lead. Some Lords, resentful of County Power, rebel or try and form alliances with Pentveur) or Dinan, but the proximity of Landreger and largely unpopulated regions between Gwengamp and their would-be allies usually make this a losing affair.
Assets
A largely agricultural district, Gwengamp lacks the strategic harbours or bridges of its Western neighbors, surviving largely off of the interest of the Counts, who invest heavily in the farms and castles of the region.
A holy well, with a statue to the Sidhe Goddess Danu stands in the middle of the town. Despite great effort, the Southern Church has been unable to destroy it, instead resorting to claiming that it is a representation of the Water-Bearer Ganymede.
History
The first castle was built in Gwengamp around 728 SI during the Reign of Duke Eozen I, a simple motte-and-bailey. This was torn down and replaced twice, lastly with a square curtain wall with 4 circular towers, one on each corner, and a small central keep.
Demography and Population
Like all of Dreger, the gender ratio of the Lordship of Gwengamp favours females. A significant (almost 40%) percentage of the population is Kontammet, largely Boermerzh or Milliget. The Sidhe and Korrigan live publically in the area, with a Troupe of Redcap Mercenaries operating out of the region.
Territories
The Lordship stretches from East to West between the Trev, upon which the capital of Gwengamp sits and the Lenv. It does not have a coastline, being landlocked by Landreger and Goelo. Its Southern Border is entirely taken up by the Kerneved Lordship of Fanch in the Western foothills of the Meneziou Are and Goat Broceliande .
Military
Largely a subsidiary of Landreger, the Lordship has a number of minor knights in its command, and a pair of small skyships with Blue and White Sails. The Thirsty Cutters, a Korrigan company of Redcap Routiers operates out of the Lordship, often taking jobs for them and under a special Ere-Hud to never attack the town of Gwengamp itself in exchange for hospitality.
Religion
Gwengamp has a long history as a centre of Druidic Activity, with the Tuatha de Danaan considering the well in the center of town a sacred site. While the Church has attempted to crush this, the pushback from angry Fae and the relative unimportance of the area has prevented it from being entirely successful. As a result, the Druids and Faithful are at almost a 50/50 split.
Agriculture & Industry
The Lordship of Gwengamp is largely agricultural, possessing only a few mills and quarries in addition to its farms.
Trade & Transport
Gwengamp exists largely because of a crossroads of 6 minor Remusan roads, leading into the city like spokes of a wheel. Taverns and inns are the town and Lordship's main source of income, marking a stopover for travelers heading between Montroulez, Sant-Brioc and Ker-Ahes.
