County of Angers (V)
Structure
The County of Angers serves as the capital and primary region of the Duchy of Anjev and the Dukes of Anjev also hold the position of Counts of Angers. Several small baronies and lordships control smaller areas, but the Dukes control most larger decisions. Of all of the Duchy, it is here that Ducal power holds the most sway.
Vassals of Angers include: The Lordship of Beaufort, the Lordship of Beauveau, the Lordship of Brézé, the Lordship of Craon, the Lordship of Durtal, the Lordship of Kastell-Gontier, the Lordship of La Fleche, the Lordship of le Lude, the Lordship of Montreuil Bellay, the Viscounty of Mauges, the Lordship of Pouancé, the Lordship of Précigné, the Lordship of Segre, and the Lordship of Saumur.
Public Agenda
The current Counts of Angers, the Tydorel family, are the vassals and cousins to the Gallian house of Blaez, serving as the primary Angevin supports of the claim of Charlez Blaez to the throne of the Duchy of Breizh, while dealing with their own ambitious and occasionally rebellious vassals, most importantly the House of Laval in Cenomannie and the House of Chinon in Touraine, as well as the machinations of Gallia and Logres.
Assets
Angers is the most politically and militarily powerful region of Anjev and its principle region, second only in monetary wealth to Touraine. Angers commands a well-trained army of knights, mercenaries and automata, as well as the Impregnable "Black Vault" of Kastell Angers, the most powerful collection of Magikal artifacts in the Northern Realms, guarded by the Black and Shining Paladin Orders. Numerous castles, vineyards and towns dot the river valley.
History
The region was dominated by the Remusan Empire and then Gallia, before power was usurped by the (then Viscounts) to establish a hereditary autonomous principality. See the history of the Duchy of Anjev for more details.
Demography and Population
Considered magically stable within Bedouar, Anjev lacks the dramatic demographics shifts that result from the Bleed, such as the significant gender imbalance found in neighboring Briezh, resulting in a gender divide that is largely even, scewing towards male. Save for Gallia itself, it has the lowest population of Boermerzh in the Western Realms and a low population of Milliget compared to its more magically active neighbors.
The Fae, including the Sidhe, the Korrigana and the Formorii, have not been active in Anjev en masse, usually operating in secret or as individuals.
The exception is around Kastell Angers itself, which serves as a draw for foreign Boermerzh and Fae.

Angers borders (Clockwise from West) the Counties of Naoned of Breizh, its vassals, the Counties of Cenomannie and Touraine, the Barony of Loudun and the Viscounty of Thouars and the Lordship of Montaigu in Akitankia.
The Liger river flows through the County.
Military
The County of Angers is the most powerful in Anjev, commanding thousands of alchemical automata, powerful skyships and well-compensated mages. Its vassals, hardened by centuries of fighting against larger neighbors and raids by the Fae and Vikings, are among the most well trained forces in the Western Realms, with the funding to equip their knights with the best and latest equiptment and arms. In addition to the knights, Angers has a large host of Foot-Soldiers drawn from the lower and middle classes, as well as the funds to employ mercenary companies from the Marches of Vasconia or the Golden Sea.
Religion
The Southern Church dominates Angers, nearly uncontested in its hold.
Foreign Relations
Anjev strikes a delicate balancing act, tempering its foreign ambitions with the need to address internal pressures from its powerful vassals, Touraine and Cenomannie.

Legislative Body
There are 3 bodies of Law within Angers. Royal law, from Galiia, Sovereign Law, from the Dukes and lesser nobility of Anjev, and Ecclesiastic Law from the Southern Church. In many ways, Anjev is the standard example of the laws of the Western Realms, with little noteworthy deviations.
