Evoker

Wizards of Evocation

Evokers are Wizard that study the physical effects of the Anon (Magic) in the world. When one thinks of a wizard and what they do, it is usually an evoker that comes to mind. Their study is the creation of elemental powers and harnessing the magic within all things. Like their Abjurer kin, these wizards are popular in military campaigns, with many nations and mercenary groups employing evokers as battlefield artillery.

Evocation is the most common form of wizardry used. Unlike the other schools of magic, its fundamentals are public knowledge, with many housewives passing down simple Cantrip such as creating fire and light from generation to generation. There are even small evocation schools and tutors across the Heartlands, ready to teach these basic cantrips for a few coins. As long as it is the practical uses magic, and not 'dangerous' magic. That said, true evokers are rare. The ability to throw balls of fire or rods of lighting is dangerous, even to those with training. Because of this, evocation is the least tolerated school of magic by the Church. Many would agree with the Church is this, as it has been evocation magics that have burned cities to the ground and caused the most devastation to innocents in wars. Many wizarding colleges require a potential student to gain royal or religious rites before being allowed to access curriculum of the evoker arts as a primary school of mastery. This has become even harder to obtain in recent decades, thanks to the destruction caused by evokers throughout the Novyum Civil War.

Though technically simple uses of magic, such as creating light or fire, fall under the category of evocation magic, one could hardly call these users evokers. At least not in the image of the evokers in stories that are the artillery of armies, destroying ships, and burning cities. They are the stuff of legend and the past. As might be implied above, there are few true evokers live in today's world. There are no colleges dedicated to evocation. The larger colleges, like Divinare and Dover College do have basic curriculum in the art, but do not have dedicated departments for its mastery. Most wizards showing a talent for evocation are quietly guided to other fields of study, or quick recruited into service to one nation or another, where they are taken as pupils for experienced evokers.

Evokers that shy away from destructive forms of evocations can easily find work in society. They can focus their studies on forms of evocation that aid in the creation items that have some magical effect. Evokers can make lucrative careers creating Nura orbs to light the homes of nobles, or aid blacksmiths in honing the magic within the steel, making the tool or weapon more useful for the owner.

Arcane

When it comes to casting conduits, evocation wizards do not particularly favor one over any other. A Wand can be considered the most common used due to its easy of transport over bulkier items such as a Staff or a Rod.
