Evoker
Wizards of Evocation
Evokers are Wizard that study the physical effects of the Anon (Magic) in the world. When one thinks of a wizard and what they do, it is usually an evoker that comes to mind. Their study is the creation of elemental powers and harnessing the magic within all things. While many pictures great balls of fire shot across battlefields or lightening called from the heavens, evokers are more often than not using their magic in practical ways.
While evocation is the most common form of wizarding used, true evokers are rare. Unlike the other schools of magic, its fundamentals are public knowledge, with many housewives passing down simple cantrips such as creating fire and light from generation to generation. There are even evocation schools and tutors across the Heartlands, ready to teach these basics. As long as it is the practical uses magic, and not 'dangerous' magic. In these parameters, evocation is the most tolerated school of magic by the Church. Many would agree with the Church is this, as it has been evocation magics that have burned cities to the ground and caused the most devastation of innocents in wars.
The basics of the school of magic are one thing, anyone can learn to manipulate magic in simple ways. These users of simple magic could hardly be called evokers, however. At least not in the image the evokers of stories that are the artillery of armies, destroying ships and burning cities. They are the stuff of legend and the past. Few true evokers live in the today's world. There are no colleges dedicated to evocation. The larger colleges, like Divinare and Dover College do have curriculum in the art, but do not have dedicated departments for its study and advancement. Powerful, high-level magic of any kind has been condemned by the Church, more so with evocation. Most nations, influenced by the Church, following suit. Modern day evokers, by in large, study more advanced form of evocation when going into profession of creation items that have some magical effect within. Everyday evokers make Nura magic to light the homes of nobles, or aid blacksmiths in honing the Anon within the steel, making the tool or weapon more useful for the owner.
Advanced evokers, those that shrug off the Church's warnings, are rare, but they do exist. These are often students at colleges studying one from of magic, while learn evocation on the side. They study the texts in libraries or finding a will profession that will teach the art beyond the 'legal limit.' Something that becomes harder to achieve every year and more and more books and scrolls vanished from circular. These practitioners often find themselves in adventuring parties or mercenary bands away from big cities and the possibility of persecution.
