The biggest human nation in the known world and the one who took the brunt of the divine invasion.
The Empire is... well, ruled by the Emperor. Just below the emperor sits the council with representatives of every major guild and knightly order, as well as a representative of all of the provinces and state organizations.
Unite the entirety of mankind under one banner and retaliate against the remaining forces of the divine, as well as free the rest of humanity from their influence.
Within the empire there are many a natural resource. The empire is running short on precious resources such as gold and silver, leading them to expand more aggressively.
The Empire of Mankind was created by Kruber after the end of the First War for the Land. The loose confederation of human nations had won... they had proved the gods wrong, at least for now. Rallied upon the courage of Kruber, son of Marrick, the leaders of the remaining nations all agreed on electing their leader... and the choice was obvious. Kruber was crowned as the first emperor of what was to become the First Empire of mankind. As a token of trust the emperor, who had, at first, overwhelming power over all matters of the state, granted each of the leaders command of their respective nation's land within the empire, thus creating the first version of The Council. In the following years the empire expanded their influence, purging remaining divine forces and repopulating many previously ruined kingdoms and lands, culminating in the creation of several watchtowers and castles around many a dark forest and forgotten mountain in order to contain the remaining divine forces that they could not exterminate entirely.
Most humans live in the fluvial valleys and plains of the lowlands where they are organized into big and dense population centers. Some, however, live in the cold highlands where mineral resources are plentiful. Most of the highlanders are either knights or hunters from the hunting orders, with some independent mining operations. Most civilian folks avoid the highlands at all costs for they are the place inside the empire where weremen are most seen for their proximity to the dark, isolated forests.
The center imperial lands were occupied either from the creation of the empire or colonized/dominated shortly after it. Most new territories are abroad and being slowly colonized and or assimilated, with some few lands being forcibly dominated.
The Empire has a large and professional standing army controlled by the Emperor and his closely held generals. All provinces are required to provide a fee of military resources, including soldiers, provisions, rations and vehicles and most provinces have a small army of their own that is trained mostly to deal with inner strife. Some provinces, mostly on the outskirts of the empire, have no standing army and usually call upon citizen militia to defend themselves until more professional forces and reinforcements can arrive from the bigger empire. To those provinces the fee is smaller than normal and is often more focused on provisions, rations and vehicles.
The technological level of the empire is mostly equivalent to late medieval Europe.
Any and all religions that do not worship mortal gods are banned under the punishment of execution.
The Empire is mostly xenophobic but will not react with hostility to foreign human nations, often attempting to trade and open migration treaties with them, often trying to assimilate them into the empire later.
The inner empire has vasts and fertile lands and a fair quantity of mineral resources such as iron and coal. however, most of the precious resources com either from trade or from the outer provinces and colonies who are often agricultural in nature.
Most trade is transported through a vast and well-maintained road system that was built centuries ago by the nations that first formed the empire, who later improved and grew them. Sadly, the highway system is only present in the inner empire, with the outer colonies and provinces only having rudimentary roads. The empire also supports many ports and docks who quickly transport goods between land masses using the ocean and or inner trading using fluvial highways.
Most people of the empire are not educated beyond the very basic, with the military being educated up to high school levels, the common folk normally only receiving education from their family and or small schools that are often built by the provincial governments.
The inner empire supports a big and well-maintained road network and many ports and docs. Most bigger cities have sewers and aqueducts, but smaller towns and villages have open-air latrines at most. The outer provinces and colonies rarely have vast road networks, but commonly support trading ports and docs.
