Structure

The Inner Circle is a templar order of sorts, and it has a strict hierarchy that goes as follows: Inner Brother General: the Inner Brother General, or just IBG for short, is the highest ranking patent anyone inside the order can achieve. it is the defacto leader of the entire order and its representative inside the Council . IBGs are chosen entirely on merit both in alchemy and in strategy and are drawn entirely from the ranks of the Master Alchemists Master Alchemist: Master Alchemists, as the name implies, are masters in the art and science practiced by all brothers from the order: Alchemy. All Master Alchemists, upon given the rank, are automatically a part of the Inner Council. Said council only gathers in one place in the rare event that a Templar Alchemist gets promoted by already established Master Alchemist into a master himself or in the event that the current IBG dies and they have to elect a new one. Templar Alchemist: it is the duty of a Templar Alchemist to guard all of the order's temple and its secrets, as well as enforce the Empire's law, more specifically the prohibition of non-mortal gods. It is generally the duty of a Templar to both recruit and train Neophytes , altho that can also be done by Masters. The Templars are also sometimes used as frontline soldiers, as they are outfited with a decent half-plate armor made by themselves from steel at the very end of their alchemical training as a neophyte and a weapon of choice also made at the end of their training. Most brothers from the order die as Templar Alchemists. Neophyte: the Neophytes do the core of handwork for the order and are their recruits in training. Once you have been chosen by a brother from the order this is the rank you start at, the very bottom... and it is your duty to not only obey and listen to your master but also to all of your higher ranking brothers.

Public Agenda

The order's goal is to both maintain the Empire safe from magic users as well as to enforce its laws, more specifically the prohibition of the worship of non-mortal gods.

Assets

The order has a temple in the imperial capital, their biggest by far. However, their presence often diminishes to smaller and smaller temples and bases the further you go from the imperial capital. All provincial capitals have at least a medium sized temple that serves as an HQ for nearby and provincial operations. The order's access to resources is as great as the Empire itself, and its access to recruits is practically endless.

History

The Inner Circle was created by Emperor Kruber, the first and only true emperor, to be his law enforcers at first, but it quickly grew into a religious and templar order. Kruber was the first alchemist and, as such, used the order to both teach and spread the science an art of alchemy, as well as controlling magic users.
