The great free cities finally pay for their petty wars against each other

The many free city-states of araska... Full of selfish merchants and honorless mercenaries... The first signs of invasion was a great influx of refugees claiming that the old legends of breeds of men and beast were true and a great horde was coming... Then communication was cut off from the more isolated city-states and trading caravans... The refugees swelled the population of the inner urban areas until they suddenly stopped. The influx of resources was diminishing day by day and the urban population began to starve and chaos set in... it was then and there that the horde finally attacked the greater cities who did not have an organized fighting force and was starving. The invasion was only stopped after the great cities elected a leader to unite them all, halting them in the very las cities.
