Argyra
Argyra is it’s own continental nation, and is said to be the home of agriculture and entertainment. The kingdom was built upon peace after the Brothers' War, and although many still uphold those values, some feel Argyra is destined for more. The old, powerful nation is well respected by most. They’ve always been strong allies with Eione, often offering troops from their Revenant Army in times of need.
Overview
Structure of Society. Military leaders once held the most power and influence over Argyra. But in this era of peace, they no longer hold as much importance. Now the wealthy rule, striving to make Argyra greater while also getting richer. Merchants and farmers hold quite a lot of power, but there have been barely any poor or homeless thanks to efforts by Victory's March. Military/Intelligence. The hoplites of Argyra practice battlefield tactics in an environment saturated with religious devotion. The military force of the nation is called the Revenant Army, and aims as much to exalt the glory of the pantheon as to defend Argyra. The soldiers are clever and resourceful, believing their piety leads the gods to smile upon them. More likely, though, their extensive training in battlefield tactics and magic gives them an edge over other soldiers, with most Argyrian hoplites knowing at least a little magic. Economy and Trade. Argyra derives an enormous profit off of it's agriculture. The town of Yrrosi and the lands surrounding it are dominated by fields of grain, as well as the occasional vineyard, most of which are owned by Argyrian nobles. Argyra also gains profit from their northern mining town, Karmorden, as well as trade and tourism done in Leagore.History
Liberation of Trax (5 BKD). Before the lands of Argyra were an established nation, human and minotaur villages swept the land. While they didn’t live in unity, they for the most part respected each other. After Agnomakhos was slain, many villages rose up against the remaining Archon tyrants in their land. Militias formed all across the continent, which attracted the attention of both Iroas and Mogis. The brothers' worship spread quickly throughout the lands, helping them take their land back from the Traxians. The Brothers' War (5 BKD--10 AKD). While Iroas’ followers celebrated the victory against the Archons, Mogis’ did not. Still fueled by their anger and lust for power, Mogis’ followers attempted to take control on the lands and establish their own nation. Iroas’ followers did not agree with the other’s violence, and fought to protect their villages. This caused a bloody ten-year war between the two. Battle for Ourea (5 AKD). Near the end of the Brothers' War, Polemarch Alexi Myron was promoted to be a Polemarch or Iroas' army. Only weeks after this, she was approached by one of Iroas' oracles. The oracle came to her bearing Bulwark of Brotherhood, Iroas' very own shield. The oracle said that Iroas chose Alexi for an important mission, and gifted her the shield. The oracle explained that Alexi's older brother, Athansios, was a newly appointed polemarch of Mogis' army. Athansios was leading his army to Ourea, a settlement in the north where many refugees of the war were currently hiding. Alexi set out to stop her brother, using winged bulls and lions to get there in time. What followed was a bloody, brutal battle. Many died, yet the Oureans and refugees were safe thanks to Alexi's initiative. When the battle reached the top of Ourea, an angry Keranos gifted Alexi his lighting bolt, Ephinany. Alexi first struck out at Athanasios, killing him immediately. Epiphany then spread, killing the rest of Mogis' hopolites in the remaining area. With that, Alexi's army won the war, and finally put a stop to Mogis' violence. Argyra's Founding (5 AKD). Five commanders of Iroas, including Polemarch Alexi, came together after the war to form the Council of Vigilance. Soon after, the Council established the Nation of Argyra. Their capital would be in Storm's Peak, also known as Ourea. Worship of Mogis ceased, and the country prospered for the years to come. Argyra has since become a place of agriculture and trade, and a place of refuge to any who need it. The Iroan Games (120 AKD). To celebrate the anniversary of Iroas’ victory in the Brother’s War, Victory’s March decided to create the Argyran Games. Every ten years, the Temple of Triumph in Storm's Peak would hold a grand tournament with even grander rewards. Here all types of athletes, gladiators, and performers would participate in all sorts of categories. The Sacking of Ichthys (572 AKD). Ichthys was a small fishing village located in eastern Argyra. Although it had little signifigance, it still became the target of neighboring satyrs' wrath. In the middle of the night, led by Xenagos, him and his devoted cult of satyrs and other feys attacked the village. Ichthys stood no chance, and those that didn't escape were slaughtered. What followed after was a celebration of their victory. Undiluted wine was drank, and the spoils of their attack was divied up. What followed after was a dark time known as Xenagos' Ascension.General Information
