Aeon

What is Aeon?

Are you serious?

Oh, you are!

Poor thing.

The World.

What? More?

It is where you are, currently bothering me.

Where you were born, obviously.

Where you will live, for a time.

Love, if lucky.

And die, as people do.

Usually.

Now run along, go find some adventure, or something.

You are still there.

You wish details?

I assume your schooling was rather basic if not non-existent given such a rudimentary question, however I am here to serve, to illuminate even the darkest corners of ignorance.

Origin
Aeon, the world we call home is a world of diversity and extremes; in life and habitat.

Reliable documented history takes us back to before the Flare  some 4,000 years ago; our understanding of time prior to that is derived from fragments of uncorroborated historical narrative from the Elves and Envoys which resembles myth and legend rather than rigorously tested historical truth.

The Flare teaches us to be wary of assuming geography and environment have remained relatively constant for millennia; the face of Aeon was altered by the Gods once, perhaps not for the first time?

With that in mind, the oldest myths concerning the forging of Aeon by The Overseer and the other Artisan Gods are given some context. The world was made some time ago in accordance with the Great Design of The Overseer, as interpreted by Cibil, physically formed by Regolith, brought to life by Opis, magically energised by Leigha and motivated to evolve by Kail.

Whether this means 'originally created' or merely 'created in the form we know it today' is a debate scholars continue to have, and which is likely irrelevant as being unanswerable to any meaningful degree of certainty.

Thus, we have the world as we find it.

Geography
I will not bore you with a comprehensive inventory of places however the most prominent features are:

  • Island groups of Miriad and The Bloodwash Isles to the far West and East respectively.
  • The forests of Wyonesse to the East and
  • The Crater and volcanically active nation of Ash to the West; where the Flare fell from Aempyre .
