The end of the Revocation War also brought about the end of the era known as The Reformation.
The forces of the Overseer God were nearing a final defeat on the Creator Plains around The Twin Spires, the magical towers forming the Prime God's seat of power. In a final desperate act, The Overseer released a massive surge of raw magical power from the Twin Spires and rolled across the landscape destroying everything it touched.
The plain was sundered and became known as The Crater from then on. The Western edge of the continent was torn open exposing the molten primal rock beneath.
All of Aeon was affected by the magical flare:
- the closest life perished immediately while most caught within a few days travel were cursed to a slow lingering death,
- new mountains rose and old ones fell,
- the Meridian Ocean churned and boiled around the Pylon of Water,
- the mountains of the Glittering Cities close to the Pylon of Earth sank and were covered by the sea which poured in to fill the massive chasm left behind, birthing the Maelstrom Void,
- reality on the Chronocian Plateau fractured around the Pylon of Time, destroying the Elven heartland built around it,
- coastal regions facing the Leviathan Ocean were inundated by giant waves,
- the atmosphere around the Pylon of Air became charged and much of the surrounding ancient Wyonessian Forest was destroyed by lightning and the resulting fires.
