Twelve Years War

The Conflict

Prelude

The lead up to the war is often disputed aswell as what officially caused the war. however the most common story goes as follows. in 1937 a small border conflict between The Holy Kingdom of Stanna and Mahadrin boiled over into full scale war after a group of Stanni Bombers leveled a small town on the border (pictured below)

after this things quickly boiled over and several other nations joined in within the following years for various reasons such as the Republic of Nydonia. in late 1939 they joined when a Nydonian passenger plane was intentionally shot down over the ocean and soon they would have over 600,000 men in the region and the war would end with a "long term truce" in 1941... this war would come to be known as the Southern Tandara Bush War given the fact that it was most fought in the Stanni Savanahs. (photo below)
it should be noted that some consider this conflict as the begining of the Twelve years war however most Historians belive otherwise. after around 8 months of peace near the middle of 1942 The Volgarian Empire declared the neighboring nation of The grand Dutchy of Erabin as its rightful territory. within a week The Peoples Republic of Acentia and Volgaria had signed an alliance as their rulers were related via the volgarian Emperors marriage the daughter of Carlos Burka which raised tensions in the area even more so. but the real issue at hand was the so called "Nuclear issue". in the mid 20s and 30s scientists in Grabenheim had discovered nuclear fission and within a decade had constructed a nuclear reactor. Many nations soon were building their own reactors and none took it further than the Volgarian Empire who was set on creating a nuclear powered paradise. however, the other half of the world refused to harness this new power as it was "dangerous" and "unpredictable" and the final straw for these nations was when the Nation of Mahadrin detonated a nuclear weapon in January of 1941, credited as the main reason for the end of the Southern Tandara Bush War as well as the largest contributing factor to the begining of the Twleve Years War.
After this the world went mad and quickly the nations of Grabenheim, Sorvabahn, Kotang, Morvari, Dubari, Toknaagi, Erabin, Silvatorn, Josintama, Morverin, Inkar, And Stanna signed the treaty of Nuclear Bannishment and formed the "Global Alliance Against Nuclear Powers" and began efforts to promote non-nuclear power. meanwhile several other nations mainly Nydonia, Mahadrin, Lothomote, Kaalaban, Volgaria, Haarkan, Pertoria, and Acentia formed their own alliance known as the "Alliance for Nuclear Advancement". negotiations began between the two sides that dragged on for 6 months to no avail. Less than a week before the start of hostilities, President Carlos Burka of Acentia gave a speech that outlined the stance of the ANA
My fellow citizens, today I stand before you not merely as the leader of our nation, but as a voice for reason, innovation, and progress. The world stands at a crossroads, staring into the face of a technology that some fear, but which holds the promise of untold potential... nuclear power. Mankind will not continue to advance through the modern age by refusing to accept innovation. The day the first atom was split by a human was the day that future became powered by nuclear energy. Yet, it is natural to fear what we do not understand. Throughout history, humanity has reacted with trepidation to the new. The steam engine was seen as a threat to traditional labor. The airplane was called a reckless dream. Even electricity itself was met with skepticism. Yet, in each of these cases, the bold who embraced the unknown lifted civilization to new heights. Nuclear technology is no different. It is not a weapon of destruction alone... it is a tool for creation. It is the key to limitless energy, capable of powering homes, industries, and entire cities without polluting our air or depleting our natural resources. Imagine a future where every child in Acentia can study under electric lights, every hospital operates without fear of blackouts, and every family enjoys warmth and security... all thanks to the power of the atom. But nuclear technology does not stop at energy. It can revolutionize medicine, enabling breakthroughs in cancer treatment and diagnostics. It can advance agriculture, helping us grow food more efficiently to feed a hungry world. It can even lead us to the stars, as the incredible power of nuclear propulsion could carry our explorers to the far reaches of the cosmos. And yes, nuclear power is also a tool of deterrence. Let us not shy away from this truth. For as much as it can build, it can also prevent destruction. A nuclear-armed world is one where nations think twice before resorting to war. The potential cost is too great, the risk too high. It is through this delicate balance of power that we might finally achieve what centuries of diplomacy could not: a lasting peace. By ensuring that the devastating potential of war is no longer a practical option, we may end war as we know it. We suspect that hydrogen is the most common element in the universe. It is, by design, humanity's destiny to harness its power. The vast energy contained within the stars... the same energy that fuels our sun, now lies within our grasp. To reject this opportunity would be to reject our place in the cosmos, to turn away from the future that awaits us. We must not allow fear to dictate our actions. Fear leads to stagnation. Progress requires courage, wisdom, and responsibility. We must embrace nuclear technology, not recklessly, but with care, with humility, and with an unyielding commitment to its safe and peaceful use. The legacy of Acentia has always been one of courage and vision. We are a people who look beyond the horizon, who refuse to be bound by the limits of today. Let us continue to lead the way, showing the world that nuclear power can be a force for good, a force for progress, and a force for peace.   Carlos Burka, President of Acentia   May 1st, 1943

The Engagement

The opening moves of the war were mostly naval actions by the main powers to destroy enemy shipping and to cripple as much of the opposing navies as possible early on. This resulted in the first few large engagements of the war being naval battles. When the armies had finally mobilized after nearly a month of declared war, land combat began to spread across the world. in may of 1943, Acentia began its push into the still mobilizing Grabenheim empire with nearly a million men and 12,000 tanks. they were me with little resistance as the Grabenheim national militia units crumbled as the army attempted to mobilize. The first weeks were a disaster for Grabenheim as the Acentians advanced nearly 300 miles into Grabenheim as they were forced to throw half strength and partially mobilized units into the fray without most of their equippment. At this point in the war it is generally thought that the Grabenheim Army only had less than 100 tanks on the whole frontline during this part of the war.
