Mk-LMG2

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Replacing the well outdated and notoriously unreliable Mk-LMG1, the LMG2 fixes several issues with the previous gun. First and most importantly, this gun's reliability far surpasses even many other rifles of the time, giving it tremendous venerability. The very same rifle is still used by many countries to this day, including the likes of Mahadrin and Dorbin. Secondly, the 30 round box magazines of the LMG1 were discarded in favor of a revolutionary detachable canvas housed 120 round chain, allowing for a massive increase to duration of fire and thus suppressive capability as well. The unmodified muzzle was also exchanged for a flash hider, making it far more difficult to spot where incoming shots are coming from when tracers are not being used. An attached bipod also allows the bearer to brace the weapon's considerable weight on any surface to boost their stability and accuracy, while the similarly affixed carry handle on top allows soldiers to transport the support weapon much more easily. Finally, the inclusion of an inbuilt cleaning rod under the barrel (two side by side rods screw together in the middle to allow reach all the way into the breach of the weapon) allows soldiers to keep their service weapons in top shape while out in the field, increasing its reliability ever further.

History

Another of Roshal Maivren's esteemed inventions, this weapons fantastic reliability prompted its extensive use throughout the Twelve Years War and beyond, its successor, the Mk-LMG2/1 only recently being phased out by the Nydonian military while still being in use by many other countries around the world to this day.
