Primary Faerûnean Deities
The gods that make up the pantheon of Faerûn are much like the population of some of the Realms’ greatest cities: an eclectic blend of individuals from a variety of sources. The makeup of the pantheon has shifted over the ages, as a result of changes in the Realms and its people (or vice versa, depending on which scholars you believe). All gods and godlike deities however, are beholden to
Lord Ao the Overgod and their powers are subject to his authority. Though he has only rarely interceded with their affairs. The following list describes the most prominent members of the pantheon.

The Seldarine
The Fair Folk of the Realms worship a pantheon of deities known as the Seldarine (Tel'Seldarine in the elvish language), a complex term that can be roughly translated as the fellowship of brothers and sisters of the wood, implying the wide diversity in interests that exists among the gods of the elven pantheon and their desire for cooperation.
