Ciello Circle Tower

The Ciellan Circle Tower is located on the extreme north of the island, on the Lusevan peninsula. It is the only authorised place for mages to be trained in the arcane on Ciello.

Purpose / Function

The facility was built to supplement the Circle Towers on Aldire. Before 777 Ciellan mages had few options save illegal mage circles if they wanted to master their talents, unless they had the means to make it to Aldire's towers. 
The Circle judged that Ciello had been made safe for mages by the imposition of ducal authority across the entire island in the previous century. The year 777 was chosen for the inaguration of the Tower's circle, as it was seen to be a lucky year. 
The Tower is situated on the far north of Ciello, far away from any population centers. This is both to protect the mages, and the people of Ciello from magic. It also allows most Ciellans to ignore the presence of a mage community on the island. The site is also suitable for magical experimentation. The tower currently houses around 200 mages.

Defenses

The tower's remote location near the coast makes it vulnerable to seaborn raids. This has nessesitated the construction of defenses, both magical and mundane.
