Goblin
Strange in habit, bizarre in appearance, notorious thieves, liars, and even murderers, goblins live on the tattered edges of civilization. Since being driven out from the hidden kingdoms, they have made their way in the mortal world. As exiles and freaks, goblins are tolerated—but only just. They make their homes wherever they can, whether in the forests and hills of the countryside or in the sewers and rubbish heaps of the cities.
The Faerie Queen exiled the goblins long ago, for a crime only she remembers. As part of their exile, she stripped them of their immortality and doomed them to live out their days in the mortal world. Goblins have since infiltrated Human societies, making their homes in rubbish heaps and sewers where, to everyone’s surprise, they seem quite happy doing the jobs no one else is at all interested in performing. Picking through trash for choice treasures or trawling the fetid waters oozing through the subterranean tunnels for a bit of gold or a dropped coin is all goblins need to keep them from making trouble for their neighbors.
In the Balgrendian forests most Goblins fall within the Bogun breed, evil sickly yellow skinned goblins with red eyes who roam the forests in number, looting, pillaging and murdering wherever they go. Those Goblins who have found their way into civilised areas most are likely to be filth goblins, a vile breed lurking in the sewers of the larger Balgrendian settlements. A Goblin who has gained acceptance into Balgrendian society is a rare creature indeed and even should they earn the trust of one community, should expect short shrift at the next.
