THE REWARD OF DELIBERATE IGNORANCE IS DEATH
2000J hours
Hello me,
Um, or whatever speaks through his person, has confirmed my worst suspicions. It is an entity of a high threat classification that he has made some type of covenant with. However, unlike what I initially suspected, it appears that Um was forced into a scenario wherein this entity provided the least of many terrible outcomes. And only at the cost of my most treasured secret can I establish a line of communication with it! Hard pass. Not my area of responsibility. I will feel less on edge as long as no murders are committed. Still, considering how his life must have been, what with the daily shifts in age and maturity, he keeps himself together remarkably well (barring when he finds himself at the extreme ends of the spectrum of life). Conn keeps reinforcing his extremely boastful personality; no danger is too much, apparently, since he slew a dragon in single combat, one arm tied behind his back, blindfolded, restricted by honour, with absolutely no help whatsoever in any way, shape, or form by anyone present. No sir! He might as well have phrased it as such and given us a laugh; instead, I am left with immeasurable disappointment. The inexhaustible braggart may have seen the effects of terrible commanders in the war he fights, but that does not inoculate him from the unpredictability of the battlefield. The fields are littered with the corpses of great warriors who failed to account for the armoured spearhead.
This morning, I was about to brief the group about the journey ahead. Which, by the way, they are strangely, suspiciously, annoyingly, accepting of. If they expect clarity as a result of not being obstructionist they are gravely mistaken. Before long, however, Nakor did nothing at all and I was beset with laughter. I found everything to be earth-shatteringly hilarious and fell to the ground whilst the rest observed. I once told him that he could not plan a trip to the privy without causing an international incident. I now consider that an understatement. The magic (that he did not use) was of the foulest kind, as it rescinded my free will for belittling purposes; if I possessed even a hint of judicial authority he would have been put before a civil tribunal long ago.
With extreme prejudice,
Jeanne
