A Fist Full of Coppers

by Major John Jean-Jon

There was magic in this world once, but they stole it all away.

The party moved to return to Hunter’s Dream, while the android skulked off for repairs and re-arming. Too much sand in the joints and moving parts. A group of would-be bandits decided to attempt to rob them. Balking at the declaration that banditry would be frowned upon, a combat ensued.

A few very well-placed hits and their leader was down for the count, a case of fatal appendix removal. The possible peace that followed was very brief, before the barbarian resumed the attack. The ninja insisted they disrobe, and they would be allowed to keep their lives. They countered with an offer of servitude, having seen the competence of the Bandolier Bros. They decided to bring the five thugs along to discuss possible future possibilities.

Selling the various sundries and treasures from the tomb that they had not taken themselves; the Bandolier Bros secured rooms for themselves and their companions for a week to discuss what they would do next. It seemed some of them partied more heavily than others, and the thugs and two zombies had cohabitated in the night.

The bartender was less-than-helpful in regards to finding a collector of antiquities, so the group set about heading to the Port City of Mattheo. The trip was rather uneventful, and they soon found themselves at the farm lands surrounding Mattheo.
Mattheo
A southern port of the Rexon river, with vast and fertile farmlands fed by seasonal silts. Much of the foodstuff in the region are grown here, and goods from all over the world pass through on the way to the more central city of Mariosa. Ruled over by the benevolent and portly Sir Anthonius the First, the foodstuffs of the area were wide in variety and high in quality.

The Golden Goblet was the tavern in which the group congregated, with a live bard performing. Rooms were secured for a week, and libations were given for all. They looked around for some more information on selling the relics and perhaps finding a home for the two wayward zombie nobles. Rumors of additional risen pyramids and tombs ripe for the plucking sounded interesting, but were potentially mere exaggerations and hearsay.

The Ninja split off from the group to dig up information on his own, as did the Gentleman. The fellow with whom he was discussing things appeared to know an awful lot about the Bandolier Bros. A bit of gold changed hands, and rumors of a ‘Dwarven Expedition’ to a mine long since lost in the blowing sands began to fly about.

A lost Electrum Mine in the mountains bordering Tauk Savuruk and the Giovan dunes appears to be the mine mentioned. A definite interesting point to head towards to.

The five brigands, now properly equipped were being trained in the ways of salesmanship, combat, and more during the downtime while the group waited for the scolar. In a few days he appeared, and the group offered him a good meal and drink after his long trip. Ancient Filinian was a language which he happened to study, and the two ladies were delighted.

He was bewildered and flabbergasted at Yuttosk’s tales of wonder from the day of the Death of Magic, and though the party was a bit tired of hearing the tale again, he made sure to hear the entire tale at length. Shortly after, the scholar Hermud was introduced to the pair of ladies, and their affectation with the gentleman came to an end.

The five newly appointed temporary members of the Bandolier Brothers were dispatched as a scouting force, to potentially locate any other tombs, pyramids, monuments, etc which had newly risen from the sands and were prime for. . . investigation.

Another dwarf came, with some information about this lost Electrum mine and apparent other clans claims against the place. A total of three clans were attempting to reclaim the lost site, and the Bandolier brothers would have to make a choice on whom to support. The ninja impressed him enough to get the information out of Il-Nig, the roguish dwarf. He mentioned that bad luck happened to be following the other expedition, very unfortunate that. He had made arrangements for a Land Boat to take them close to their destination. It would take some time, but they would beat the other clan there. Whether that was for the best or not, was yet to be seen. .

Aboard the land boat, the Sandy Fist, the travel was easier than they were used to. Suddenly appearing from the sands, a Behir launched itself at the vessel! Volleys of javelins, crossbow bolts, and bombs did little to dissuade it from the attack. Several crew members met terrible ends, and Yuttosk was swallowed whole! They didn’t have long to rescue him from the gullet of the beast!

With the beast dead, the party definitely had some time to consider their life choices on the way towards the drop-off point by the long abandoned Electrum mine, and John Jean-Jon took that time to properly harvest the Behirs body for organs and hide. The captain insisted on additional payment to replace his fallen crew member and supplies, the group would have to consider whether to do so or find another ship at their next stop: the Midway trading stop of Tetron: surrounded by beautiful salt and freshwater lakes.
