Rising Matt

by Major John Jean-Jon

There was magic in this world once, but they stole it all away.

The members of the coalition were: (Human Hippogriff Rider) Ashuk Masani, (Dirty Drow) Dalerik Sinondrir, (Gnoll) Rhuivnez Woefoot, (Elf) Viscount Galan Quitris (Former Wizard), (Dwarf) Hufric Jadechin [guest star Matt]: Three foot eight, and a tremendous weight. Greasy hair, chins ranging from double to quadruple, depending how much he had for dinner and how he’s standing. He was looking for his lost landboat, and stumbled into this mess with a bag of holding filled with a stolen feast. He was interested in a turkey expanding potion, so he could enjoy his remaining turkey stores for longer.

Korric spent some time sneaking out of the castle, before being reminded that they were sneaking into the place. The dusty catacombs they were creeping through went unpillaged for now, due to being polite. The ghost of a man playing piano flew past. Some of the brothers were more quiet than others, and the menagerie of the coalition accompanying them were also prone to chattering: The Hyena, Badger, and Giant Riding Spider made quite a scene.

They split into a pair of strike teams, one more stealthy than the other. The Quiet Squad: Thy’lek, Gnoll, Elf, Tage, and The Chin. The raucous group: Korric, Yuttosk, Spider Drow, John, Ashuk.

The quiet ones crept through the catacombs.

The loud ones went knocking on the Palace doors to draw out the main forces of the Gith.

Rive was clamoring to cut into the summoned Earth-Attuned creature that had apparently been summoned to guard the front of the Palace. A Gith riding a red dragon awaited on top of the battlements, and a Huge Earth elemental awaited in front of the gate. The Hippogriff charged the dragon, and the Huge Earth elemental struck at John Jean-Jon. Korric leapt into the fray, Rive finally tasting the blood of his hated Terran foe! The dragon breathed a fiery blast at the Hippogriff rider, who was not successful with his barrel roll. He plummeted towards the ground: falling unconscious from the impact.

A trio of Gith appeared atop the wall, manning the ballistae. The first got his fingers stuck in the firing mechanism, jamming the device and crushing his fragile fingers. Yuttosk cut down the elemental with a final swing, and in the cloud of dust Rives scream of frustrated rage were almost audible to those who were not wielding him. John hurled Korric up the battlements, onto the terrified Siege team. They were not happy about the turn of events.

Spiderman crept along the wall, laying into the Gith with his looted silver sword. A brief melee followed, and the siege team was cut down. The dragon did several fly-bys against John, who chucked a few fancy grenades in return. The dragon did not plummet to the Earth as intended, but it was only a matter of time.

He returned to blast the top of the wall with fire, wreathing spiderman, Korric, and the spider in flames. John continued the barrage of fancy grenades, doing some damage despite their various effects not triggering. Korric was not successful in hurling some javelins at the rider. GQ pulled out a wand, and aimed it at the dragon rider. Unfortunately, a wild magic surge caused the spell energy to summon a hostile fiendish monstrous scorpion. He was not happy with the result.

John prepared for a new assault on the dragon, focusing his efforts to restore maneuvers. Korrics next salvo of javelins was not effective.

Fed up with being grenaded, the dragon flew off to warn to rest of the castle. John healed those in need of assistance.

Tage lurked through the hallways in front of the quiet group. He detected a group of Gith ahead, and set the team up for an ambush indicating the threat ahead. The Gnoll used her bewitching gaze to entrance the Gith which had been detected, and Tage was eager to cut their throats. Only the assurance that the very first attack would break the spell she had created prevented him for a brief time, but ultimately his blood thirst won out. And he moved in, blade drawn: Murderous look in his eyes.

The throat of one was slit, and Thy’lek and Many Chins moved up to take advantage of the foes lack of awareness. Impaled by rapier, heavy pick, badger teeth, and more: The Gith party was reduced to lifeless husks.

The Gnoll continued her staredown with the Gith, reducing them to quivering entranced victims for Tage to cut down as he liked. And he did like. Oh did he like. As he and his companions waded through the entranced foes, rendered mostly helpless: Their blows raining down from all sides and Gith blood pouring onto the dusty floors and into Tages open mouth.

The helpless guards laid in a mess on the floor, the ‘Quiet team’ began to creep up the stairs towards the Palace proper.

A trio of Gith swept out of the shadows, a barrage of arrows flying into the startled face of the Gnoll. The gentleman leapt into the way, a pleasant smell following in his wake.

The other members of the quiet team slowly moved to intercept this new batch of guardians. A furious melee on the stairs went on. Thy’lek bore the brunt of their assault, falling to the ground in front of the lady gnoll in a puddle of gentlemanly fluids. Slowly he rose, as Many chins threw a useless axe and finished off one of the injured three. Tage danced through the shadows behind them, then back again: badly cutting one of the remaining two.

The two Gith stepped through dimensions and prepared for another salvo of arrows. Thy’lek rode a horse and gave chase with a mallet, not effectively. The wizard was helpless before the might of the scorpion, before it faded away in a puff of irritated smoke.

The last Gith attempted to run away, but Tage and Thy’lek finally got a couple lucky hits in, preventing the escape of that squad at least.

The Brothers looted the bodies of their respective foes, and prepared to continue their two-pronged assault.

(Murdered tonight: 12 Gith Hit squad members, Huge Earth Elemental)
