The Good, The Bad, and the Saturday

by Major John Jean-Jon

There was magic in this world once, but they stole it all away.

The ninja stepped out of the Shadows, and the dwarven statue suggested he beware the Green dragon. When asked where he was, a quiet burp smelling of booze was all the answer the group needed. They descended the grand staircase into the lower levels. . . The long tunnel led into a circular room: There was a stone door with a smiling dwarven face. John Jean-Jon grinned and went through the door. The others, infected by his grin followed as well. An electric trap was thus bypassed, and in the next room was the remnants of a long-gone reverse gravity trap. A skeleton remained, proof of its deadliness.

Climbing up into the next room: Ilnig directed them through the curving tunnels towards undiscovered territories of the dungeon. Mineshaft Crimhold found a sinkhole crossed over with two wooden beams. A voice called out from below: They needed assistance. . Jean secured a rope, Thy’lek rappelled down into the darkness. Upon finding the bottom bare, Jean pulled Thy’lek back up.

They continued, finding a plain wooden door with iron door knob and hinges. Noticing the gargoyle, they politely asked for the command word. He said it was Glitterdark. He indicated that only bad things were behind the door. The secret door would trigger a combat, and the actual door led only to bad things. He also indicated the architect was a mad man, Ilnig seemed perturbed at this revelation.

Since ‘Glitterdark’ had been said over and over, the secret door was in fact open. Thy’Lek offered to take his post as he went through the door, to satisfy his curiosity and boredom. He indicated that he had been guarding a boring room with an altar for hundreds (thousands?) Of years. The party continued down the hall, and found themselves in a room with an altar. A 30 foor square chamber with a vast mural of piles of dead adventurers. A bloodstained altar with an armored corpse and ceremonial dagger definitely suggested some mayhem. The 10 foot obsidian slab on the wall across from the door suggested some trouble as well. Dark and twisted visions reflected in the Obsidian block said ‘One must die’. The party suggested to Ilnig that he should sacrifice himself, and they would assuredly bring him back later. Amazingly enough they actually convinced him to die, and so he did.

Throwing the human sized corpse onto the floor and plucking free the dagger, John Jean-John thrust it directly into his chest. The Obsidian block moved, and the way forward was clear.

An enormous cavern with barrels of crystal and an Iron golem smashing crystal with his fists was an Iron golem forged in the likeness of a grinning dwarf. With the deed and pick in hand, the golem (which was speechless) moved the boulder blocking their way. The crystals, upon inspection were red in hue. Apparently called ‘Krimsonite’. . . Not much is known about it. Supposedly worthless, there was a lot of it here however.

The next room was an enormous cavern, filled with guano and Giant Cave Crickets. The ninja snuck in. An enormous Dire Bat awaited the party. Or slept. A torch was thrown, and yuttosk readied his spear. The bat was spitted, and a mass of crickets rushed into the light source hoping to feed. A frenzied fight followed, with crickets, bats, and guano flying all over the place.

They found themselves in the tunnels which the purple worm had bored into the earth. A locked door in Dwarven blocked the path, but only briefly. A dusty 30 foot square room with a stone throne awaited. The skeletal fellow within turned to the Adventurers. His name was Damis. He indicated he was guarding the ‘Forever Stone’. He guards it from the unworthy, and offers Door Number 1! An unguarded pile of treasure awaited. Door number 2 was a mystery. He suggested a final sacrifice was necessary. Thy’Lek made the sacrifice. The test of humility. He disintegrated Thy’lek.

He asked if a hippogriff or a griffin would be faster. In response to a question about the age of the animals, he revealed the third option: A green dragon which had not eaten in one hundred years! Cue door number two, with the Green dragon lunging forth.

Meanwhile, Thy’lek found himself in a room with a basin of blood and awful murals. He was very thirsty.

Hug-hug was safely set on ‘Rear Guard’ duty, and the party went at the dragon and wizard. In short order the wizard was cut to ribbons. The green dragon was surrounded and beat down, but not before blasting the party with acid and his hungry, desperate claw and bite attacks. In a final display of strength, John Jean-Jon tore the beasts jaws asunder, and in a spray of dragon blood Thy’lek was revealed behind another door. As Thy’lek was drinking the blood from the bowl in order to get to the bottom of the basin, the ninja slowly walked past him and reached into the bowl to simply grab the babble resting on the bottom. The Ninja rolled his eyes and simply walked away holding the stone as the dumbfounded Gentleman looked on. And the gentleman knew, Tagë would never let him forget this.

The Forever stone: (CL 20) A spherical gem with an Astral Diamond core which will grant longevity to its own for as long as it takes to stamp out evil in the world (forever). Cure Serious 1/day, Death Ward 1/day, Divination 1/day.

The group collected the various treasures, and prepared for the long trek back to the closest desert town: The plan was to ambush the last Dwarven clan once they entered the mines, and confiscate their means of transportation. They recruited the Gargoyle ‘Harlem’ into the Bandolier brethren. His desire to see the world would cause him to become another Bandolier Brethren.
