The Quick and the Matt

by Major John Jean-Jon

There was magic in this world once, but they stole it all away.

The Bandolier Brothers decided to prepare for the incursion of the final dwarven clan. Asking the Forever Stone for some information about the number of raiders, the answer was: Nine! They set up to attack the nine dwarves within the upper levels of the mines, separating into two groups to secure the two avenues of entry. The Gunslinger popped in, freshly oiled and ready for action.

They blocked one of the ways for the intruders to go, and separated into two groups preparing for an ambush. The first group was The Gunslinger, The Ninja, and the two orcs. The second was John, Yuttosk, and Harlem (with Hug-Hug as super special backlines backup).

The leader of the last dwarven clan, Illon Musk Silverbeard. The Android fired a warning shot, declaring the need for their clan to “Stand down!”. They declared the Musk-Silverbeards had the rights, but we clearly had the deed. The android was insulted after having been called both an orc and a dwarf. Demanding information about the Orc escort, the buffoonery went on for a bit.

The well-laid plans for an ambush were now in ruins, And the Bandolier Brothers had to quickly assess the situation and invite the ambassadorial leader to review the actual deed to the mines, as well as Parley.

The orc companion: Shali appeared as a brother to Korric. His sleek, well-toned body gleaned with oils, sweat, and was just barely covered with finely preserved Jaguar skins. He insulted the honour of Thylek, insisting he was far less of an orc than was necessary for an escort. He insisted that the deed was carved into the walls, and thus only the possessor of the wall could be the true owner of the deed. He insisted the newcomer be brought to the wall, to witness the deed.

He demanded to see Ilnig, to discuss terms. Thinking on their feet, the brethren skinned Ilnig, adorned Harlem in his skin, and set up to discuss terms. The impatient “Ilnig”, was awaiting the ambassadorial party. Shocked at the scene they were met with down below, the visiting dwarves were not convinced that Ilnig was before them. Thy’lek insisted that if they could not see the deed, then in fact they were not the true owner of the mine.

“The deed only presents itself to the true owner. Ilnig sees it!” declared Harlem-Ilnig. This declaration was not well received. “How dare you talk down to Ilnigs servants?!” Harlem-Ilnig demanded their respect, while Thylek continued the process. The ambassador cut off negotiations.

The Silverbeards sent in their shock troopers: Taers. Filthy, stinking apes. Followed by Dwarven infantry. Their cleric was largely ineffectual. Bullets, Bombs, and savage melee were cutting the invading dwarven forces to ribbons. All his forces lay slain, including his sister. Would Arren Silverbeard surrender? Offered a position of authority over the mine he decided. . . to become a member of the Bandolier Brethren. The Silverbeards would be operating the mine. Ilnig would be utilized elsewhere. Harlem insisted on being in charge of security.

Their pack animals would serve well in returning the group to civilization. They also got word from a Messenger Owl that new monuments had been discovered to. . . investigate.
