Midnight's Journal: After They Know Me

"Secon- ow, hurts to talk. Ahem. Won second place in the tournament today. It was far more interesting than that however."
 
"I'd been practicing my shadow manipulation for this day for my morning exercises and it ultimately paid off. I was able to pull off some of the old tricks I used to back home. Not quite all of them but enough of them to be effective. I ended up being a seeded match so I didn't get to fight in the first round. Disappointing, but you know what? It afforded me an opportunity for a rematch against Aspara."
 
"My match with Aspara went surprisingly quickly. She told me upfront she wasn't going to hold anything back and naturally out of respect I intended to do the same. None of my opponents were going to get off lightly in this tournament. This was a meeting of warriors! A clashing of fists! The kind of experience I had back home! I would not dishonor it by treating it with kid gloves. The match ended almost immediately when I turned Aspara's charge against her, smashed her into a wall and then slammed my fist covered in shadow magic against her chest. Hopefully didn't break her collarbone too badly."
 
"My next came against Pollux and Castor. I've not seen them much so don't know them too well and as such wanted to end the fight quickly. I tried to let them know my actions were out of respect for them as a fellow crew member and tried to pull them in with my shadow whip while activating my tattoo. They managed to defend so the battle ended up being a bit more prolonged, but ultimately I came out the victor, grasping them with my shadows and forcing a surrender. I'm getting ahead of myself there however. The crew was accused of cheating during this match. I'm not sure WHY they would accuse us of such. It irritated me but as we were given the opportunity to restart the match I tolerated it... for the moment."
 
"However then another match came up. This guy that was our liason for the match? Adders? He just goes nuts, bulks up like a berserker and demands a fight with members of the crew. Royce took up the challenge and I decided I'd see how things played out. Would have liked to be the one to fight, but eh, they were quicker to the draw. Already in the arena. Unfortunately Royce lost. Corsica stormed in followed by Pollux and Caster. Both of them were beaten. With this Adders guy threatening the crew and ruining the matches however I wasn't going to let it go and unleashed my shadow beast upon him, knocking him clean out. I admit, he was probably softened up for me, but I'll take it."
 
"We managed to get the fights going again and after Royce finished up his match it was me against him. Wolf on Dwarf, just like back home! And an officer who could use a nice punch to the face after the whole mountain incident. I was look forward to it. Honestly, I couldn't land a blow in the end. It was like fighting a supercharged Notroc. The man as some incredible punches. He ripped through my shadows and then knocked me out. After that it was a bit of a blur. Heard some talking... felt a towel hit my face... I think Akhana? Heh... honestly I was more expecting Lio would be the one to check on me first, the little worrier. But I'm not complaining."
 
"Either way, Royce was a worthy opponent. I don't feel bad about losing to him, but I will have to get a rematch one of these days, once I grow a bit stronger."
