Dining, Divining and Delving: RPG Session 20

General Summary

"Well, I can't jump that distance."   "'I mean, I could toss you?'"   "Dwarf tossing? Is this dwarf tossing? If it is I'm in."   "Alright, Zaltar picks you up and yeets you up over the canal wall."   "I turn into a bird."   ~I just...why, Gúrda, why?
  Honourable Mention:
"You know, it's strange that a tower for wizards would be made of wood. I mean, think of all the information that could go up in flames..."   "They're wizards. They could put out a fire very quickly."   "Yes but it's not a question of whether they put it out or not, but rather how much damage happens before they do that."   "Maybe there are invisible magical protections. They would have thought of that..."   ~OMG! Just go into the tower already!

  • What Happened

While sailing back to Losgate on the Gull's Reach, the Drakeslayers got into conversation with Ribi, making sure that Pilka was being sent home and asking to be dropped off in Losgate. The Captain agreed, and Gúrda went to check on the boy to make sure that he wasn't injured in any way before they left.   After arriving, the group split up, with Daz checking back in at the Siren's Call to make sure they kept their rooms again that night. The other three party members went and collected their reward from the Head Magistrate. Or rather his scribe; the Magistrate himself was sick. At this point, Geort asked about the discoloured canal water, and the scribe mentioned the drakelings hadn't been cleaning them as they usually did. While the Head Magistrate would have to approve any exploration of the Undercity before the group could go there, they would likely be hired for this job.   Returning to the Siren's Call, the three members caught a boat ride from Zaltar back to the inn. Chatting with the sailor, they learned a little more about the drakelings, including their recent mischief relating to stealing valuables. They also sailed down the The Emperor's Canal, which gave them a view of many shops and stores they could frequent later.   After a quick chat and a meal at Nira's Fine Foods at the insistence of Nilar, they decided to do some more research, with Geort and Daz going to the Ruby Reserve to look for information about Adanar Manor and Gúrda and Melé heading to the local chapter of the College of Mages for the possiblilty of teleporting to Eleikar Town to face Jonitan Kilas before his planned attack on the Frostward.   Geort and Daz learned that Adanar Manor was located a few miles south of Peralt Bridge in Hayim. It was abandoned following the end of the Gratic occupation of that nation at the end of the last age, and was likely "full of animals or worse things." Daz also discovered a bardic ritual hidden in an anthology of dwarven songs and poems, although the music would take some time to perfect and practice before it could be useful.   Gúrda and Melé, on the other hand, got lost rather quickly, but were eventually directed to the College's wooden headquarters not far from the Sea Fort. Heading inside, they chatted with Mëplar and were luckily able to get conditional permission to use their local teleportation circle on a one-time basis. However, Mëplar needed to get full permission from the head of the guild and gain the services of an esteemed colleague in Gratic City before they could set off.   After reconvening and spending the night at the Siren's Call, the group went into the Undercity without the permission of the Head Magistrate. Using Zaltar's services another time and asking him to wait for them, they entered the caverns and dodged one pit trap. Their movements, however alerted the crazed drakeling denizens of a nearby cavern, who attacked them in the next large cavern. Using the pit trap at the mouth of the tunnel to their advantage, the group successfully killed all of the feral drakelings, and began to make their way deeper into the Undercity...
